Played around with the Langrisser remake demo on switch. I came in hype but left not really interested in dropping 7000 yen. The battle animations are terrible and look like mobage trash, more so than the actual Langrisser mobage. There's a classic mode which gives you 16 bit tile backgrounds (ugly but easier to distinguish terrain types) and the Satoshi Urushihara artwork. But it leaves the lovely sprites and animations. Gameplay wise they made it more complicated with more fiddly bits (e.g. every unit has hp instead of just 0-10) but not to the point that it's like a brand new game, it all feels like an awkward halfway between a faithful remaster and a bold reimagining. If it goes on sale or gets a localization I might check it out but right now there's better stuff in my backlog.

Is it good It is, it's a basic tactics RPG series but you have way more units than usual, most of which are disposable generic soldiers. So it's it's sort of like a cross between fire emblem and advance wars. The other thing it's known for is the character designs being insanely horny.

Clearly a new mainline announcement with the 3 balls. I hope it's visually different enough from Let's GO. As fine of an art style as that was for a Red/Blue remake, it'd suck if that's what it will look like going forward.
