Besides the standard racism and misogyny, isn't a lot of the AOC smear supposed to reinforce the idea that millennials are still 15 years old and have no real life experience?

The idea that AOC is a plant is particularly hilarious when you realize that in order to place her, they decided to knife a 10-term incumbent and Democratic Caucus Chairman to give her a seat. drat, you think if they had all this under such a tight control they would have had her land a different seat. I guess old Joe was prepared to make the sacrifice for the party, though.

Well you have to remember that ultimately what the right wing wants is a return to serfdom. That's why they're so against education and workers rights: They want uneducated worker bees who are too busy trying to not die to consider the fact that they're expected to be kissing-the-ground-grateful for the privilege of working 18 hours a day in exchange for a sandwich and a straw mat to lay down on. More people being able to vote muddies the waters for the only people whose opinions actually matter to them.

Going by number of counties is such a weird way to do it. I once got in an argument with someone over counties, where I was saying that it makes sense to have counties as a way to avoid duplication of services over rural areas and unincorporated towns; they were saying that they were ridiculous bloat. Turns out, in my state is an anomaly, with a small number of counties covering huge portions of land. What the hell does Georgia need 159 counties? One has like a thousand people. Hell, if we're going to decide that counties are the ultimate form of representation, might as well split states into billions of counties, with one person having hundreds or thousands in their fief.

Dr. Arbitrary posted:
you tend to get more counties/townships/whatevers in the eastern states since they are older, and counties are the main source of service provision for rural areas. states in western counties tend to be bigger just because by the time many of these counties were established you had things like the telegraph and railroad to make them easier to govern, also most of the land out west is vast arid wastes that don't have much population to provide services to. this is why america west of the rockies is heavily urbanized instead of being spread generally across the rolling green hills east of the mississippi in georgia's particular case, it was very easy to mint new counties as a state process and also statewide electoral votes were determined at the county level, so more counties = more rural dominance of state politics the number of counties is actually capped in the georgia state constitution because 159 is way loving too many, but it's near impossible to get rid of a county, so the trend is for city/county consolidation as many of these counties only have one town worth anything in them anyway
