Since when is a door a valid VIN location? I mean, yeah, they put VIN stickers on the striker side of the door for convenience, but it's not a legal, actual, VIN tag as far as I know. A door isn't enough of "a car" for a VIN to be attached to. There are actual, you know, laws about that. Last I heard, you had to have at least a significant portion of the firewall, where the legal VIN is stamped or attached. edit: I'm more interested in the line of things on the fender, and the one on the red door. Those are familiar to me for some reason, I think from my computer retail days. Some sort of PC, maybe? Or battery back ups?

My buddy had a 68 Cougar in high school and he had problems at inspection because he switched the doors for ones with tinted glass before it got painted. I forget exactly what he had to go through since it was so long ago but he did have the original door luckily.
