I don't really follow Flash Gordon here, but it seems to go to Vikings pretty often for a "space" comic. Like I know that basically just displacing cultures to other planets or eras is a time honoured thing, but the viking stuff sticks out to me or some reason.

Flash Gordon always had a certain Prince Valiant feel alongside the sci-fi elements, even in this era where they're apparently trying to be more "sci-fi" than the classic stuff with Mongo and Ming and Hawk Men etc.

Crying on a first date, in my experience, does not work well.

Its kind of wild how more on-point Mary Worth seems with modern culture/online dating than Luann, considering who they're marketed to.

Yeah it's amazing, that and this is like legitimately entertaining. That cat was an rear end in a top hat to Mary, a lady just smoked dramatically a whole bunch for an ill-considered plan, this whole thing...have the Mary Worth creators rediscovered what fun and excitement is and started to bring it back into the strip?

Well, yeah, but its like. Something. Even that tired trope is an acknowledgement of "hey dating online isn't that different from the dating of the not online." Luann calls it all "not normal" like that means anything.
