Never said it was great, but he's making minimum wage drawing porn which probably takes him no time to poo poo out at this point. Would assume he also has something else going on the side. It's also funny that people are willing to give money for his art, because it's bad.

I got my 8bitdo SF30 controller today, was surprised that the picture on amazon of the box saying that it uses micro-USB was outdated and that it actually comes with and uses USB-C to charge.

The minimum wage is approximately 25% over the official U.S. government-designated poverty income level for a single person unit (before taxes) and about 63% of the designated poverty level for a family of four, assuming only one worker (before taxes). (See Poverty in the United States). Annual wages of $30,160; $45,240; $75,400; $150,800 and $1.5M correspond to 2, 3, 5, 10 and 100 times minimum wage respectively.[16] Less than 2x min wage for an individual. In technical poverty for a sole breadwinner in a 4 person household. Probably actual poverty even with two incomes. The art style is taken directly from the anime, and while the new art is decidedly less striking, I think I probably like it a bit more. It's not a massive difference at any rate. As for Elite specifically, it has been streamlined a bit (I've noticed a couple small conversation branches that have been condensed down to just one route) but it's mostly in service of keeping the plot moving forward so it's not a huge loss.

He originally setup a patreon for VGCats but oddly enough nobody really cared, you'd think doing like three comics every two years or so would be enough to keep a large audience, but nope, it only makes like $250 a month. Then when he realized that wasn't going to pay his rent he started up the adult patreon which as already said makes over $2,000 a month.

Ghost Leviathan posted:The GBA was really a last refuge for good spritework before the retro revival. What happens when you go from refined spritework to primitive polygons because marketing and execs have decided polygons look better. One of the common criticisms I saw for Dragon Quest 7 on the PSX was that it was 2D and therefore 'old' and that the sprites looked cartoony. They also looked far better than the low poly poo poo in FF7 but FF7 was 3D so it looking like rear end was just ignored. Doc M posted:The way I understand it, Konami would've been legally allowed to use the theme but Kojima chose not to after he found out it had been plagiarized. Also, I always enjoyed seeing MGS fanboys go "Actually, the melody doesn't sound similar at all!" because it's not literally a 1:1 copy. Anyone who makes a western-themed game should be required to copy at least one song from the Man With No Name trilogy. Wild Arms ended up with some good songs (like the above) as a result. I think DOOM and DOOM 2 copied actual songs for all of their tracks, or drat close to all of them. Fitzy Fitz posted:The more Pokemon resembles Dragon Warrior Monsters, the better. Not a Children posted:This was exactly my sentiment when I played it Also due to level design itself. Most NES/SNES rpgs had too narrow of corridors. 7th Saga didn't have random encounters and used the crystal ball to show enemies moving around. It always felt real good to use the submarine then run halfway across the world to buy high end gear and dodge every encounter along the way.

So after playing more Ape Out - I can definitely say it is a great game if the overall Hotline Miami style of fast-paced murder carnage appeals to you. It definitely has a few frustrating quirks, and the quasi-procedural generation can definitely screw you in a few instances, but in general everytime I die makes me just want to start over and try again. The levels are short enough that a death at the end doesn't really set you back long at all, and usually deaths feel like a gently caress-up on your part, not because the game was unfair. Like I said previously, the game leans heavily on the art style and music accompanying your rampage - so if you watch a video and those parts don't seem to jive with you, definitely don't pick up the game. I think it works really well though - nothing like freestyle jazz accompaniment to you smashing guards so hard they explode into blood when they hit the far wall Somewhere online I saw it referred to as Hotline Harambe, and I think that is about the best two word description possible. Definitely check it out.

i'm right here Annath!!! but for real tho there is good and bad lowpoly 3D just as there is good and bad sprite work. I don't want to see one or the other replaced, I think they both have their uses. For a game with an incredibly adorable low poly 3D look, look at Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light on the DS (the old one, not the 3DS!) (you might also recognize that it looks similar to Bravely Default, which is no coincidence since it's basically the prototype for that game!)

Your Computer posted:i'm right here Annath!!! That is an excellent example of recognizing the limits of the hardware you're working with, and designing your graphics accordingly. Granted I don't think that'd be an appropriate style for a game with the tone of FFVI, or any Fire Emblem, but it does look good in and of itself. Actually, FFV is probably the right level of "fun"/lighthearted for that artstyle. But my bigger point is that it's super frustrating when developers try to use graphics or art styles that the hardware they're working on can't support, and so have to make their game look like rear end to get the images they want on the screen. Basically none of the DS pokemon games should have used polygonal overworld graphics, they should have been entirely sprite based since the hardware couldn't manage 3D models acceptably. Same with the DS/3DS Fire Emblems. I'm only in favor of a series making the jump from pixel art to 3D if the hardware can do it well. "Well" doesn't necessarily mean more polygons, low poly can look great, but the graphics should be sharp, bright, and clear, not blurred or muddy/muted.
