Metcalf has a garbage catch percentage and multiple season ending injuries. I kind of don't care how fast and strong you are if you aren't able to run good routes, catch footballs, and stay on the field. I don't know if he'd be good on another team but this dude would definitely bust in Baltimore. Of course, so would any other WR.

Need to get one of these future hall of fame postseason dominators like a Julian Edelman.

Metcalf has had an unreal combine though, but what you say is pretty concerning.

His hands have been the entire reason I've had 0 hype for him. The one knock on him across every single evaluator is his hands and that screams red flag while everyone jacks off to his pics and 40.

2016: 2 games, 2 catches, 13 yards
2017: 12 games, 39 catches, 646 yards
2018: 7 games, 26 catches, 569 yards

Woof. He's going to get shut down so hard in the pros unless he ends up with an amazing WR coach. I guess I'm saying: someone needs to bite the bullet and draft a bust or else the Steelers will somehow make him a worthwhile pass catcher.

AJ Green and Julio are pretty awesome WRs. That was the draft Cleveland gave up Julio because they were supposedly needing a #1 WR at the time and there were articles I remember asking if it was worth passing up Julio.

I just watched 3 DJ Metcalf vs tapes on youtube and he runs a streak 80% of the time, showing inside and outside release. Successful enough against jam, although he didn't face it very much.

I saw him ran a handful of deep comebacks, hooks and a very small number of drags and lazy mid level crossing routes. I don't know how his hands are since uhm he wasn't targeted very heavily and alot of his targets were misses.

I saw no targets in the slot or to the right of the formation. He lines up outside reciever on left side of formation 100% of the time.

Would not draft

he reminds of that one other kid like a year or two ago who ran 2 routes in college and only lined up on one side of formation

Strangely Missouri's offense was ridiculously better with him in the game despite that.

If the Ravens don't take him at #24 because they know every receiver they draft in round 1 busts, the Steelers will get him in the late 2nd round. It won't matter to them if he can't catch bc he will start the season with a 90 yard TD and 5 more for the season like Coates, Bryant and Wallace before him.

if you play 3 years of college ball and i dont know if you can catch the ball there is a problem

also this stat line:
2016: 2 games, 2 catches, 13 yards
2017: 12 games, 39 catches, 646 yards
2018: 7 games, 26 catches, 569 yards

is undraftable. His measurables would make him to me at most a 3rd round pick and i would be more comfortable 4-6 where you take other physical freaks who maybe or maybe not can play the game

if he broke 1000 yds in a season with his stat line....sure take him higher

I think the draft hive mind has talked itself into Oliver being smaller than Aaron Donald by some arbitrary amount, therefore Oliver has to be a really big pass specialist which drops him down draft boards. Just see lovely mocks dropping Oliver out of the first round altogether.

But then he measured almost the exact same as Donald today, so I guess we’ll have to see if that’s dismissed as alternative facts, and then a really good workout tomorrow could also turn that decision on its head.

Metcalf is a very specific type of player who would be perfect in the Steelers system like Edelman is in NE. If you try to make him a number 1 without giving him time to develop, he's going nowhere fast, but if you play to his strengths and ask very little of him until he masters the one thing he needs to be able to do -- stretch the field and he gets it, then he's gonna be a fine #3 and may even work on his game until he's good.
