The best part is a similar incident happened again on TMA-10 and 11 in 2007. Russia was not forthcoming with the TMA-10 incident and so it was somewhat surprising to NASA when it happened once more with TMA-11. Soyuz TMA-10 had no NASA crew aboard so they were not told of the accident but 11 did and so it became more known after that. The current Soyuz still finds ways to encounter situations that are OSHA-worthy though. [stab stab stab] https://i.imgur.com/Uthtbak.gifv

There's a hat you're supposed to wear for birds loving your head but I don't know how to even begin searching the internet for it in a way that doesn't end up with me on weird watchlists. I lost it at the end when the axles are spinning around like a Final Fantasy victory dance.

I choose to believe this entirely unsubstantiated portion of the Wiki article for TMA-11. quote:Anatoly Perminov, the head of the Russian Federal Space Agency, speculated that the ballistic reentry was connected to a Russian nautical superstition that having more women than men on a craft was unlucky.[citation needed] The return flight of Soyuz TMA-11 was the first time two women flew together on board a Soyuz and it was the first time women outnumbered men aboard a spacecraft since Valentina Tereshkova's solo flight in 1963. "This isn't discrimination," Perminov stated when challenged on the point. "I'm just saying that when a majority [of the crew] is female, sometimes certain kinds of unsanctioned behaviour or something else occurs." Perminov said he would try to ensure that the number of women would not exceed the number of men in the future.[18][dead link]
