Captain Marvel’s been a woman or an alien (and sometimes, an alien woman) since like 1982, although Carol Danvers - who Brie is playing - became CM in 2012. I’m honestly still unsure what the hell the argument against the movie is - there’s so many things to attack like the fact that they hired a woman director but legit just said “oh we’ve got guys to handle the action scenes” to her (and she went along with this), or that the movie is using the social justice aspect to sell a movie that looks intrepidly tepid and bland, or the fact that it’s yet another Marvel movie that is going to be two hours plus of those armed services commercials that used to just play BEFORE the movie, but I guess they’re mad that she once maybe criticized white guys if you squint real hard and turn your head to the side?

Youtube already verifies accounts and promotes them in search results. It's not as obvious as the blue ticks, but on their videos they have a little grey arrow next to their name if they're verified.

When they offered Black Widow to Lucrecia Martel, they outright told her the same thing - "we want someone to concentrate on Scarlett's character, but don't worry about the action scenes", causing Lucrecia to balk because why wouldn't a director maybe want to be in charge of things like the climax of an action movie. Also Coogler knows how to shoot action, he had just made Creed before getting Black Panther and, gently caress, he did the Hong Kong sequence in BP, which might very well be the best actual action sequence in a Marvel movie in the entire ten year run of these things. He's literally better at the action scenes than the people who are making the big action scenes (it's because Marvel pre-vizs the gently caress out of their heavily digital sequences and uses the same vendor every time - which leads to the big action sequences... looking basically the same, every time). It's hilariously bullshit. I mean, a lot of action scenes are shot by second units, but generally those second unit directors are brought on... by the director. Marvel is hilariously awful to the people making them massive amounts of money as a matter of course - Jon Favreau walking away from directing The Avengers after Iron Man 2 basically got chopped into an Avengers prequel instead of the story he pitched, Joss Whedon making them a billion as the director of Avengers and getting locked out of the editing bay on the sequel because he didn't want to include stupid Thor bullshit that had nothing to do with the movie, Patty Jenkins asking for a little more time for pre-production on Thor 2 and being told "nope, just go with our pre-viz", causing her to quit (and in turn leading Natalie Portman to go "gently caress this don't call me for another one of these", which is why Jane Foster, literally the female lead of Thor movies and who became Thor in the comics, has magically vanished with no real explanation), and wait this isn't CineD uhhhh gently caress nazis https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ieXs3HDnco

comic book movies are always going to be lowest common denominator trash blockbusters because they're based on nerd culture emphemera filtered through the movie industry which is probably the textbook example of indulgent late stage capitalism or whatever you call it. they will always be products first and foremost and as such they will be focus-grouped and revised by soulless marketing types to be exactly as progressive (or regressive) as necessary to make the maximum return on their budget. arguing about them itt in any capacity besides how they make nazis and their fellow travellers stupidly angry is a massive waste of time and energy
