I'm personally happy with the longer episodes I enjoy watching you two screw around in the avenger, too

I'd suggest a combination of "split the Geoscape into a separate video" and "battle videos last as long as the battle does."

Yeah, you guys commented on feeling like you were in a death spiral, but that's just how the game is designed to feel. The devs did a really good job of making the player feel constantly under threat by constantly making them choose between mutually exclusive picks. You stop one black event but you get defeated by the other two. Combined with the perma death and the game feels very stacked against you. But that also means that as you figure out ways to beat the odds that feel so stacked against you it feels good. Think about how many videos made you two shout bullshit, only to end with you guys high fiving over having overcome it.

I'm in the "Don't care how long the episodes go" camp. If they go long, they go long, no problem in my book.

Yeah, I don't mind longer episodes either! Would prefer each mission to be in one video too.

I started off already wishing the episodes were longer, but was just getting used to them being short! But yeah, even though I agree now that keeping them more bite-size at first was a good idea, anyone who's watched this far is prolly invested enough now that you can start rolling out the longer episodes.

Count me in the bandwagon for option 1! Definitely don't cut geoscape cause it's half the fun, especially in a blind LP. You could consider cutting/skipping repeated content (like assigning equipment to soldiers) and do a small "this is what we are going in with" to shorten things down though! Also if there is a super long geoscape section, you could split it up the same way you did last time.

Yeah I’m all for longass missions. We have a pause function or we can fast forward. Don’t get stuck editing your videos more then you have to.

I definitely want to keep watching Geoscape stuff and I'm fine with either dividing them into X.5 episodes or rolling them into the larger videos.

I'd be happy with watching full-length videos of the missions and also watching the geoscape strategising.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! We'll keep things as they are for now. I briefly did consider splitting geoscape and missions, but if we do two missions in a week we either go to two days or you just get a day of pure Geoscape and no action, which isn't what I really want to see!

(Spoilers for most recent update)"Why can't he see them? I don't understand." Full cover blocks vision, half cover doesn't. Other than that, an excellent mission so far. I think you're really starting to get the hang of XCOM tactical combat.

You're definitely pulling yourself out of the hole that the early game left you in! The upcoming alien facility mission is going to be pivotal, I don't think you can afford to lose that one. I'm worried about mutons and heavy stun lancers. They haven't yet seen the muton counter-punch, and that's an easy way to lose a ranger. Mutons also carry grenades and the big boy guns, they can one shot some of the team since they won't have plated armor for the mission. Heavy stun lancers are also horrifying and they might face the double stun lancer + priest pack, which can take out a squad by itself.

Priest are from the expansion afaik.

The Priest has a very distinct helmet, and that's not it. The Shieldbearer, while not really an enemy you want to see on the field, is at least more straightforward to fight against.

They did not even look at bluescreen protocol. Aaand they are still taking shelter behind cars, the one true enemy. Otherwise good, hope still lives. Those new guns should be nice to have once you make them.

What are your guys favourite compositions to bring? I never double down on snipers and rangers and sometimes I skip snipers because they just aren’t as good until you get serial. Typically it’s 1 ranger 1 sniper 2 specialists and 2 grenadiers. When I get a decent psychic I skip either the healer or the sniper.

They just got supplies again, but they had more pressing upgrades first. Edit: Regular hunter axe does have the same damage as the arc blade, and the throwing ability is almost certainly superior to the small stun chance, but I can see not being sure of that. I don't think this needs to be spoiled because all the numbers are there, but I'll respond in kind. Dr Christmas fucked around with this message at 00:23 on Mar 6, 2019 |

I mean yeah, sure, they are weaker but it's loving murderbots. And it's not like they're as much of a downgrade from soldiers as the SHIVs were in XCOM 1.

Xcom 1 Shivs were actually super strong in the expansion because it added a bunch of nifty upgrades for them. Deffo a downgrade in the base game though

They know that SPARKS exist, you don't have to spoiler that. Hope they get them tho. I've only actually played base-XCOM2 but I really need to play WOTC+DLC+modded to the gills one of these days. Check out this ridiculous jetpack mod!

We know Spark units exist but we've no idea of the difficulty that Shen's last gift represents. Given how badly behind we think we are (despite reassurance to the contrary) we can't afford to risk a potentially lethal mission to get robots.

Nat20 you and Tea may be unaware, but Shen's comment during the Viper autopsy ("...this reptilian creature with such distinctive human features is surprisingly unsettling..." is a funny snipe/nod to the community's reaction at large when Vipers were revealed in a trailer for the game (Snakemen were an enemy in the original XCOM, but were lacking some of these...features ). More details: (more goon reactions to snake tits can be found in the Games thread, which may contains spoilers for the blind LP, so you may want to avoid it until later.

To be honest, I just really wanted to come up with a blackened-out block of text where only the words for robots, "vanilla" and "loving" would be visible for the LPers to project meaning into.

GeneX posted:Given the general experience of the DLC thus far, yeah, I’d avoid anything from the people who made the alien rulers and called it good Keep in mind, the Alien rulers DLC includes the boltcaster, the freeze grenade, the shadowkeeper pistol, and the (so far unseen) axe. The idea was that you'd have more capable soldiers but also occasionally run into powerful boss enemies. Shen's Last Gift at least limits itself to a single mission you can run whenever you want, and while opinions on SPARKs vary it's still a new class to play with.
