I really ought to have made that Primaris Psyker mention a link.

(But yes, my bad, I meant Mark X Tacitus. Which, now that I look at it, totally looks like someone's name.)

"Tacticus" on the other hand, is the mark of armor.

Are you happy now?
I spent 3 hours going around Melbourne trying to find somewhere that had a copy of the IG Codex. I've spent hours theorycrafting the start of a Napoleonic style army and have more questions:

If I have Master of Command, Relic: The Laurels of Command, Warlord, can I do 2 commands a turn within 6 inches, an another one on a 4+, or if I do 2 commands, is it two more rolls to get another two? So if I get all them off, I only have 8 command points to use anyway, which probably means I should choose something else?

Can I put the infantry and cav on square and rectangle bases, or is that banned these days? Mordian seem to assume you do mount them, even if the cav can't use the bonus, now that templates don't exist.

Would you have more anti-tank in a 500 point game? I can't imagine too many armies having more than 1-2, though from past experience way back when I played, having 3 lascannons just means 2 miss and 1 fails to penetratewound.

If I have a Warlord Company Commander, Lord Commissar and Regimental Standard within 6 inches of a infantry unit of leadership 7, what is it's actual leadership stat? Is it better to make the Lord Commissar the Warlord?

Why does Battlescribe say "+ No Force Org Slot +". What do you mean I don't have a Force Org Slot? Huh? Didn't I choose a Battalion Detachment?

I intend to buy most of these figures from 3rd parties (maybe Victorian Miniatures with the slouch hats for a musketeer look, or Anvil industry's Belgic Shakos). Does anyone else do tall hats? Not Bearskins, that's for the Grenadiers Elite troops, not line companies).

I am irritated that infantry Sergeant's can't get a free lasgun, and I can't fit in one more point to have all 3 squads have the same weapon of a bolter instead.

I keep tossing up to have a plasma gun with the Rough Riders, a Melta Gun or neither because half the time they'll miss anyway.

Anyways, how is this for a 500 point army to start off with?

I'm retooling my planned purchases a bit - the Neophytes are painted and I'm starting on my ridgerunner, but I'm debating where to go next.

I know I want a chonky unit of bikes, but I don't know if I should include them in the primary detachment or slap them in the secondary fast attack one with the ridgerunners an a jackal with Rusted Claw instead of Twisted Helix

Very nice. I've been justifying not doing Cawl since I don't play Mars, but drat that's a nice model and paint job.

If you have the other models, you're almost certainly better off using those FA slots to fill out a Brigade for 12CP. It's ridiculously easy to do with GSC as every slot has really cheap options.

Out of curiosity I've just made a Battlescribe list with everything I own already plus the new units ordered at the weekend, and it comfortably fills a Brigade and Battalion for barely over 2k pts.

Why not use the ridge runner try to make a Brigade and run the Rusted Claw as an all-biker unit? (Frankly, I find the idea of a bug that bikes offensive!)

GSC seem really CP-intensive so you want to go for the big One-Two.

Don't worry about it. He looks super intimidating, but he's actually quite easy to sub-assemble and paint. If you use Uncle Duncan's guide, you're pretty much guaranteed to get a fantastic result. I assembled and painted my Cawl over a period of three or four afternoons, which is better than most other "simpler" models I've fooled around with.

I wish I would have watched this first. I also completely assembled him before painting. It makes it way more difficult to paint, but it also lets me use models before I'm done painting. Now that my armies are so large, I should probably start painting before I finish assembly, though.

They flat out refuse to respond to questions about that on FB. Leaks from the book seem to indicate nothing about Deathwatch. So at this point there's two options IMO:

1. Deathwatch don't get access to Vanguard Primaris.

2. Deathwatch get access to Vanguard Primaris through something other than Shadowspear.

I still think #2 is likely. I also think that GW isn't stupid, and if there's an opportunity to sell a boxed set to an entire group of players then they'll gladly do so. My guess is that by the time preorder is available they'll settle once and for all if people can buy it.

EDIT: The posts from the 40K FB Community are now literally going "As for chapters outside that (Grey Knights and Deathwatch) we doubt it for now, but if we get more news, we will pass it on." so I guess the answer is a much more solid no.

The high end image you posted earlier from that Hammk deviantart dude was of Vanguard Deathwatch!

NOVA Narrative has 20 spots for "Warlords" who take a prominent role. NOVA policy, which I don't agree with, is that older Warlords get first dibs because they have a password. If that password is shared then it means new folks don't have a chance to get in.

It’s not just Scions but I’ve run into that before. I don’t think GW inventory tracking software is very good. I’ve ordered a few times and when they arrive they’re missing one or two items and I have to call to find out the blister is on backorder and it’ll arrive a month or two later.

Is this also where Kill Team chat happens? Didn’t see a thread for it specifically. If that’s the case, I’ve been reading the rules and saw a couple games at the LGS, and I’m wanting to slap together a Tyranid team. Warriors seem really good, but I also noticed I could take 4 lictors. How terrible of a gimmick would that be? I think in reality I’m just gonna go with 2 warriors with BS/DS and a BS/VC gunner, then take just 1 lictor. I’m mostly just spitballing ideas in my head, wondering if anyone has experience with Tyranids in Kill Team.

It depends on whether you're going for kills or if you're taking the missions seriously. Like any elite unit, Lictors are good at murdering things. They're not good at sitting in a corner and doing nothing so you can get points. Realistically a mix of Warriors, Lictors and little Gaunts is a pretty solid list.
