Trump would insist that movies shooting in his buildings film a cameo appearance with him, usually they would just leave it on the cutting room floor though, don't know what's wrong with Chris Columbus.

Glanced at a TV screen last night at the gym and apparently they were at Guillermo del Toro's mansion that was staffed by kuh razy creatures and Mr Burns was there too

Homer gets Comic Book Guy's '59 El Dorado by mistake from a valet and takes it for a joyride. Comic Book Guy (whoever does this voice can't do it anymore btw) presses charges. Homer is found guilty. Lisa finds something online called sentencing mitigation videos where people make videos asking judges for leniency. She pulls up one Mr. Burns did, which is Guillermo del Toro narrating one for Mr. Burns. Del Toro describes Mr. Burns as a mix of Cthulu and Slenderman, so the forums finally made a Simpsons cameo. The Mr. Burns voice is starting to get rough around the edges too. They also do a cutaway gag where Homer is fish guy and Marge is the woman who fucks the fish guy in the del Toro movie about loving a fish guy. Lisa directs a video that looks like it's going to work, but then Comic Book Guy shows up and gives a speech that causes the judge to have second thoughts. Comic Book Guy's manga artist girlfriend actually makes an appearance in one of the extremely rare instances of the writers referencing anything that's happened on the show in the last 15 years. The plot wraps up in some contrived way. Thank you for listening to my book report.

Al Jean and the show do seem like starfuckers. Every guest celebrity now practically play themselves being awesome, and their characters are always drawn with abnormal detail and attractiveness.

Caught part of this episode and I'm pretty sure in the scene where Lisa brings up the Mr Burns video the computer screen says "MyTube" but Homer just straight up says YouTube when talking about it.

The saddest part of that tweet is his implication that it's perfectly fine for a scene to have a single, single-layered joke

Cubone posted:this is the only line of discussion itt rn that sounds interesting and I have no idea what the context is Al Jean twitted a promo screen for an upcoming episode with some text like "The Simpsons go to the N&N store! Can you spot the hidden gag?" The 'joke' being that the Simpsons were walking out of the store, each carrying a bucket of candies, except Homer who was carrying a struggling mascot, instead. All the responses were people piling on that 'N&N' was a dumb name, so Al finally relented and tweeted "the joke is in the lower right corner."

also like half the replies were pointing out that a way better joke would be if it were the W&W store, and they could have a bit where lisa starts to flip one over and homer slaps it out of her hand like "watch it! we don't have the rights!" etc and al jean tweets back "yeah, maybe, probably wouldn't work in table read tho"

Surprisingly watchable. Not funny, and has a few ugh moments, but has more style and animation than I’d expect from a modern Simpsons episode.

What annoys me the most is that there are no jokes in the background, no funny business names or signs, just straight up shots of inside/outside restaurants. Then I guess if there were hardly any jokes otherwise then what can you expect. Other than that, the animation isn't bad for modern Simpsons.

I think they may have been trying to make up for the song in the musical Streetcar episode 30 years ago?
