I asked you on Twitter, but I'll ask you on here, since we have spoiler tags.

What was the big jump scare you appreciate?

The rollercoaster entering the tunnel hard-cutting to the car accident?

I answered on Twitter but yep. When I originally saw the movie that downright shook me. I've rewatched it a few times and it's just perfectly done. The music slowly lulls down but you don't really notice because of how much it fits the scene and then the roller coaster goes into a tunnel and he perfectly matches up the trajectory to it's like a quick cut to black and then boom. It's a beautiful show that made like 10 people walk out of the screening I saw

While I'm in spoiler tags, if you're wondering the Director's cut adds even more sex, even longer shots of colors and a long incredibly unpleasant sequence where he comes back with brain damage from the amount of time he spent dead and becomes a burden on his sister, but that eventually turns out to be part of the trip

Very cool!

Honestly, glad that was cut. Sounds like a meaner 1408 fake-out. It would have weakened the film.

I think that really depends on who you work for and what kind of venue it is. Save for some terrible hires, I had a great time with my company. We did corporate stuff like secret ios completion parties, initial secret video game announcements for media, ceo weddings. The other companies workers we hired for extra hands always seemed miserable though. The even smaller gigs of private cheffing is bullshit no one should ever do unless they're getting paid really well.

I was gonna say little Caesar as it's a really good, quick shot of a movie, but Glory has to be the choice, if only for Denzel's feet.

I think k needs a good cry.

All I know about Glory is that scene in Beauty Shop where the girls are gabbing about movie hunks being sensitive and then Alicia Silverstone overdoes it by talking about Denzel in Glory and she makes everyone feel awkward.

Everything I've ever heard about Gaspar Noe movies makes them sound very unpleasant, so I've not been very enthusiastic about seeing them.

I Stand Alone is very much "Oh, is this edgy enough for you?" the movie.

Irreversible and Enter the Void are okay but I don't really need to see either one again and I think the latter kinda wears out its welcome.

Watching Sin City for the first time since high school probably. It’s amazing this movie isn’t either way better or way worse. It’s also incredibly gross in every sense.

My favourite Gaspar Noe thing are his interviews after the premiere of Climax where he was clearly rattled that people dug it so he was working hard, trying to get some controversy going.

So I had to tap out of Glory after it took me an hour-and-a-half just to watch 37 minutes of it and Watch TCM's buffering problems just became unbearable, so now I'm watching The Assignment and OH MY GOD the make-up on Michele Rodriguez is quite a fuckin' thing to behold

edit:

Holy poo poo, there's a shower scene where we see her full-frontal in her male character prosthesis, dick and all. The phone rings and as he's passing by, the camera literally dips down just for a second so that it's just a shot of naked hairy legs and pale fake dick right in your face.

I love this movie already.

edit:

Lol, the love interest who he bones 15 minutes into the movie is named "Johnny," real subtle there Walt

also, once more for this Ratso Rizzo make-up job

Digital cinematography wasn't there at the point when Mann made Public Enemies (that shot of Depp jumping over the banister is just the most ridiculous thing ever) but it's a good movie in general.

I just looked and it was totally there. Even Attack of the Clones looks more like a movie. I also can't stand his other films where he used digital cameras. I couldn't make it through the Black Hat one. I don't gel with whatever he's doing these days.

I wouldn't call it a horrible obsession. Public Enemies looks rough, but Blackhat looks fine and Collateral and Miami Vice look great. That's a solid batting average.

CelticPredator

I couldn't make it through Vice. I really really really don't like that kind of digital photography. I'm thankful it's gone, but there was a period where it kept popping up. Captain America had a scene where it just started to look all super digital and it took me out of the film completely. The film occasionally dips into that look, but not enough to bother me

I love digital cameras with all my heart because they give me the ability to make art, but I don't like when a film starring Johnny Depp doesn't look much better than something I could do. (In terms of frame rate.)

In any event, Marathon Man is legit. William Devane chews the scenery and goes toe-to-toe with Dustin Hoffman.

On Skellig Michael? That was a straight helicopter shot, no enhancements. The only change to the end of The Force Awakens was having ... poo poo, was it BB-8 or was it Chewbacca on the Falcon? One of them was requested by Johnson.
