I had no trouble understanding Harbour, but all his one-liners are just so... boring. It's like they are lines from the first draft that they forgot to replace with quality one-liners.

All the swearing in the trailer is weird because Hellboy is definitely not a "swear-y" book. It doesn't really have anything in it that would require it to be R rated as the violence isn't really that gory either.

I think it makes the mistake of conflating demon = edgy as gently caress, whereas Hellboy is pretty chill and/or depressed. Watching that trailer, it feels like a very 00s kind of movie and I fully expect the soundtrack to be full of nu metal.

it doesnt help that harbor is terribly unpleasant to look at in his makeup. he looks like a terrifying demon monster, while pearlman was basically the comic come to life.

This looks very much like "What if Man of Steel but funny?" and I have no problems with it. The last gag made me chuckle even if it was super obvious. Hopefully it doesn't turn into "super end of the world blue laser shoots into the sky" -type of stuff but instead keeps it somewhat small scale.
