I mean yeah there’s a lot of similarities in some of the systems and UI in particular and it has the same sort of approach to world-building and story telling. But I think the aesthetic is one of the big things, with the gothic Victorian/Lovecraftian sort of spin instead of the dark fantasy one. The other thing is that the gameplay really pushes you to a more active play style whereas especially in Dark Souls 1, you could turtle pretty reliably. Bloodborne rewards lots of movement and even if you get hit and lose health, you can recover a significant chunk of it by pressing the attack. To me that’s the big difference that hooked me where Dark Souls lost me.

The UI doesn't even give you consolidated character sheet that shows you all of your stats in one place. Approaching this game with a WoW mindset is futile. If you just want to fly around in an exosuit with a jetpack and wreck a bunch of smugglers with friends (or strangers) then it's great.

Basically it's more Dark Souls but also probably the best one with a really cool new aesthetic and lore, along with some good gameplay changes that make it way faster and more aggressive than DS. But I would buy a system just for any Dark Souls game so ymmv.

im really dragging my feet to play the new god of war because i cant get over how corny it is to choose kratos *of all people* as your Sad Dad Deep Game protag. like i loved gow at the time but that time was a decade ago, you cant just turn around and decide to do an inverse loonatics unleashed just because you were dragged out of your rape joke phase by your wife when you turned 40. im gona play it yeah but they should have made the game about the mom

I thought the story was kind of poo poo on top of the whole laffo this is the same character thing. Pacing is not that genres strength and boy did it not care to try. Plus the combat is poo poo from start to finish.

Anyway, I've never been a big PC gamer but most of the reasons to own a console over a PC have been stripped away. Loading times? Dead since PS1. Couch co-op? What games even have it these days? Controller feels more comfortable than KBM? Most games on PC support controllers now. Game complete at launch without needing patches? Not in a looooong time. Cost? They cost as much as they ever did, and a comparable PC is less expensive than it used to be. Games increasingly don't even run well on the standardised and 100% predictable console hardware. If Witcher 3 is going to run at 20fps anyway then it may as well run at 20fps on my PC where I can at least loving mod it

too much predictive programming lately for my tastes. I was playing dark soles and there was a lot of heresy and occult knowledge in that game. You basically kill god in the first game. Pretty heinous not to mention hella demonic. Bordt of the boreal valley's boss fight room combines with the dancers boss room to form the kabbalah from jewish mysticism the tree of knowledge it even has female at the head, male at the bottom (hehe as it should be). I've been a PHD student for 3 years and i've never seen this level of symbology used to an extreme before. the fact that these video games have such power over us but are inlaid with this level of mysticism and diabolical themes (feeding on fellow man, summoning spirits, ending the world) leads me to believe that... uhh it's freaking epic lois.

You get the fun game play and baller graphics, but you don't have to listen to the story.

Unpopular opinion time. Im happy skyrim has been ported so many times. Its a very comfy, fun game to gently caress around with inbetween other games, so its nice to literally be able to switch cartriges on my switch, than have to set up and turn on a whole different console.

Dark Souls 1 is my preference for favorite of the 3 Dark Souls games with two being I did not like and 3 being mediocre. Many people have different opinions but Ill give you the heads up, Dark Souls 1 is the least like Bloodborne mechanically so youll probably dig it the least.
