twoday posted:https://twitter.com/SamCoatesTimes/status/1105559198522396672?s=19 Without any action taken by the UK, the UK will leave the EU in a "No Deal" scenario at the end of March. This termination of the UK's membership in the EU is governed solely by the laws of the EU. Whether or not the house of commons approves the termination of the membership is irrelevant. The "No Deal" scenario can be avoided by the Article 50 notice being revoked by the UK. However, by the UK's internal rules, the government currently does not have authorization to revoke the notice. So even if the commons vote against "No Deal" tomorrow, they still would need to positively vote separately to give Theresa May the power to withdraw the Article 50 notice or ask for an extension.

Now, if I was a suspicious bastard I would think that EU gave May a deal they knew would not pass because they never had any intention of giving you any sort of deal in the first place. You know, in order to make you into an example for other would-be leavers. I used a meme thing!

They did. They gave her a deal they knew would not pass, because the things that the hard Brexiters in the UK required from the EU are fundamentally incompatible with the way the EU is set up. So any deal the EU realistically offers is a deal the UK will not accept. This only changes, if either the British requirements change, the EU rolls over and basically gives up all its principles, or enough MPs lose their nerves and suddenly vote for the deal after all.

today I tried to buy a tomato for my lunch sandwich and I saw a bloke who had been stabbed in the face to death, slumped against the self serve checkouts in a shoreditch sainsbury's local down the road from work. There was blood everywhere in long painted swathes. There were a couple of sad cops standing around and one blocking the entrance who made an ill considered "kill it" motion with his palm down hand waved against his throat when I walked towards the door. It happened like 40 meters from an ambulance station. I wish they had closed the roller doors. It really hosed me up. There's a metaphor for May changing the paragraph spacing on her deal and trying to pass it again tonight somewhere there? stay safe.
