N00ba the Hutt posted:I got to see a talk by the guy who filmed the bird-devouring. He does a lot of work on hermit crabs and how they select shells, as well as the coconut crab stuff. I think he was a bit taken aback by the enthusiasm I expressed for coconut crabs, because they're adorable gigantic monster crabs. I've only seen them preserved in jars, but someday... Can confirm they're adorable dorks, and pretty docile. Pretty much the same temperament as any other hermit crab only supersized. We got one to crush a green GI flashlight one time but had to poke its claw for like five minutes until it got fed up and was like "fine jeez" and squished it.
