lol the guardians website is leading with "DUP backing will not secure Mays deal, says senior party figure" and I clicked in to see who it was and it's former minister Jim Wells who lost the DUP whip after publically attacking the leadership for not backing him after forcing him to resign for hating gay people too much who has publically indicated he would sit as an independent if Stormont was up and running. You could do some basic research here lads

Hey, not sure if this is the right place to ask but hopefully people are able to help me out. Over the past week or two my town has been overrun with Generation Identity posters/stickers that have URLs that link to a really vile white supremacy manifesto and I really want to do something about it. Tearing all the stuff down seems inefficient/dangerous so I thought the best course of action might be to set up a lookalike web address and point it at an anti-GI info page then have stickers printed with the new URL and slap them over the existing posters/stickers to hopefully dissuade people who take an interest in their campaign. Does anyone either have a link to a solid anti-GI page or would be willing to help me source info, quotes, evidence, etc. so I can construct my own? I've put together some stuff already, but I know there are smarter heads than me in this thread and I want to do it properly. Cheers.

Azza Bamboo posted:. A really good Brexit summary, the only thing to add is a little more on the NI question. The potential catch 22 is compounded by a rejection of option 3, imposing border controls at GB ports. Essentially moving the EU/UK border to the maritime border, which would basically leave NI in the free trade and movement zone while still legally part of the UK. Unionists are not big fans of this as they see it as step 1 to NI joining the rest of Ireland in the Republic. The DUP are fringe even on this and fundamentally oppose any attempt to treat NI as different from any other part of the UK (except for the parts where they have civil rights, abortion or even the vote for Papists, those parts are evil abominations). The DUP are the fringe of political groups who 20 years ago were still happy with political violence being used to support their views. They have happily driven the breakdown of functional local government in NI which has been without government for over a year now. They are not good faith political actors and are interested only in their own bizarre agenda. Theresa May's government also relies on them for their majority so anything that can get their vote is likely to be unworkable and will directly benefit the DUP.
