Now regarding Israel's Ultra-Orthodox weirdos. They're not required to do national service, around half of them don't work, and if they choose not to work they get special welfare from the government. In return the Israeli right wing gets a dependable voting block of sometimes violent lunatics. I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the Republicans didn't try to set up special status like that for groups of Evangelicals or Momos.

It's awesome that we've cut the amount of youth prisoners from 10,000 to 650, but before we advocate sending those 650 kids to private schools, what are they in for? I read most of the article, so maybe I missed the part where they addressed why those 650 were still being housed when the numbers dropped in general. Were those kids convicted of particularly violent crimes?
