New Abnormality tune: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YV0kV5ULjl4 Despite the title, it is not a Nazi song (as if a band fronted by a brown woman would be writing Nazi music). It's actually about getting extremely violent and brutal revenge on a rapist. The lyrics feel really emotionally charged and personal, which is... gently caress. Song fuckin' rips, though.

i'm a bad metalhead and have never really gone back in time to listen to the discographies of the big hitters like sabbath and so on, so i've been trying to do that more recently https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgjmxYL04V4 i could listen to this tone all day what's some other poo poo I should check out that you guys would consider essential from the late 70s early 80s era but isn't one of the obvious bands?

If you want a modern tribute band with a similar tone, try Orchid. They aren't as good as Sabbath but more music is never bad. If you want to try something that really influenced Sabbath, look up Budgie.

Not really sure what you consider an "obvious band" since you just posted that you've never listened to Sabbath... Do you mean proto-metal stuff like Blue Cheer, Budgie, Bang, etc. or are you talking about proper early metal?

Sabbath aside: veering into hard rock territory, I have a serious soft spot for Uriah Heep's first couple albums https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pEdKcblmctA https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPIK9wUXogo Vulture Culture fucked around with this message at 15:48 on Mar 25, 2019 |
