Regarding glasses and Viera. We already have pince-nez (stemless glasses) in game, so why not change glasses for Viera into something like that? Heck, we already have glasses for Mi'qote, and they're not exactly hanging of the ears either.

You're the ones that gave SE the impression that people are nostalgic for old, bad ideas, so they started looking around for other old, bad ideas to implement like gender-locked races. In fairness the fanfest keynote is the wrong place for it, but if they went this route because of resource constraints being upfront about it would be best. Like, I can respect picking the bara cat man over whatever concept for bunny bois they would have gone with, if they can really only do one, but they already know that genderlocking will have a bad aftertaste for a lot of people. At least acknowledging that frustration would be good start. Also, can we at least wait until the expansion is a bit closer before the inevitable thread death spiral?

it feels to me like they couldn't decide which race to add so they tried to have it both ways and add both but genderlocked for dev time reasons. i doubt 'ladies have to be sexy and dudes have to be buff' factored into the decision so much as lady viera and male ronso are what's familiar to the fans. 'lore reasons' was probably just the most convenient explanation for the time. kinda seems like they felt compelled to add a certain number of 'new things' for a new expansion and this was the best compromise. the people being most vocal are upset, but i wouldn't be shocked if they polled the entire playerbase and the data showed that given the option between just one race but both genders or two races single gender that this was what the majority preferred. not to say i don't think it's stupid. and the hat thing is hilariously bad. but i can see them thinking it was a safer bet to do it this way and add the other genders down the line (though sadly i bet it'll be next expansion, or the last patches leading up to it at best)

Nature of the beast, sorry. Opting to make the new races sexy bunny ladies in lingerie on one side and beastly muscular lion men on the other is different. It would've been less work to make a single race and avoid adding more weird gender essentialism to the game; they just decided not to do that. Maybe focusing the design on what made the best power fantasy for young men was the only commercially sensible choice but 1) I really doubt it and b) even if true that's just a very sad capitulation. My personal assumption when they put out the viera trailer a month ago was that the viera guys would be built like au ra guys and just have rabbit-like features. I dont get how we have catboys and midlanders who can both be pretty femme looking, but rabbit guys were somehow a bridge too far.

How do you see yourself get lifted in the air, see the Monk run over and punch you out of it, then do nothing when it happens to them? How do you get this purple line thing the Monk told you about before the fight started, see them walk over to you to take it from you and run it to a statue, but never put two in two together that that's what you're supposed to be doing. I'm glad YoshiP didn't release male Viera. No one deserves it.
