For something like that you're basically CNC'ing any engine parts you need, right? I can't imagine there are any NOS parts left for a super niche motor.

The Seagrave truck V-12 is descended from a 1930s Pierce-Arrow design. Parts probably aren’t COMPLETELY impossible to get, but you’re going to be competing with brass-era restorers.

Ok, I'll bite. What would you describe as a brass-era restorer? Car restoration stuff fascinates me so I imagine this "Game of Thrones" poo poo playing out between various decades with NOS parts.

Exactly this. I was a bit over-stating when the brass-era ends, but pre-WWII and particularly extinct-marque-luxury-restoration is a weird part of the hobby. Almost all of the people restoring those sort of cars are older and not on the internet or savvy with computers. Parts are available, but generally REALLY expensive (I know what I got,) and hard to track down since you’re essentially following word-of-mouth trails. It takes a LOT of legwork to track down say, a new headlight bucket or piece of trim, and then additional hurdles to get them to actually sell it to you.
