They've never given away a ship with the full spec powers so I'll be shocked if it gets pilot maneuvers. But probably a Pilot Commander (without the maneuvers) like the Bajoran escort.

Yup. The manoeuvres are great and I love flying ships with them enabled but at the speeds that ship is capable of they’re almost counter-intuitive. Back in the day the idea was to stick beams on it even though beamscorting was was bad, because it’s speed made it really difficult to keep cannons on target.

If you set it up right, going into full impulse would slow you down.

I've been snagging a ton of ship speed endeavor perks and it's making stuff like the D4x fly around at 90 impulse on full throttle while full impulse is scraping 300. It's pretty cool.

I've gotten pretty lucky on the perk system all around:

Also fun, parking at 0 impulse in the new event in a pilot escort and murdering swarms as they warp in along one of two very predictable vectors and not giving a poo poo about incoming damage because it’s a normal queue.

On speed and Defense, apparently the Defense bonus from Going Fast caps out at Impulse 24. Anything above that doesn’t increase Defense, but it does increase Coolness. I like to think Cryptic built in a cap to the calculation to prevent goons from hitting Impulse 300 and receiving negative damage from getting shot.

Have they done the "Do events to get C-Store ships" before? If so, what kind of events are typically featured?

Only if you count ‘receive T2 or T3 ships from giveaways’ as doing events. It looks new. The actual value will depend on which ships, of course.

Since it looks like they're going to make all the T6 ships levelling ones, I assume the events will give away T1-T5 c-store ships, since there's zero reason to buy them now that you can be in a T6 ship from the beginning.

:agreed:

It's going to be a T6 upgrade to the T5 in the most minimal effort way. Expect an additional fin or something stuck to the hull, slightly boosted base stats and an extra bridge officer skill slot somewhere.

Anyone out there with a newish account or who doesn't want to spend dollarbucks on internet spaceship pixels should probably get one during the Xmas event. It is unlikely to suck.

Disco Connie, Disco D7, Disco Section 31 ship. That’s either a hell of a c store bundle or (more likely) the Red Angel Lockbox.

Also a move away from pure Disco content seems like a good thing. The show is great but it’s clear that the game isn’t well-placed to release complimentary content for a range of reasons. Taking a more holistic look at the franchise and including nods to Discovery is a better approach.

20% ship sale starts tomorrow today. They accidentally posted the announcement early, then pulled it.

Fake Edit: oops, forgot to post this yesterday. It probably starts in a few hours after the patch.

From March 28th at 8am PT to April 1st at 10am PT, we are having a 20% ship sale. Enjoy not just a discount on our ships, but fleet modules, dry dock slots and ship upgrade tokens as well! Have you been eyeing a new ship or ship bundle in the C-store? Now is the time to grab the ship you've always dreamt of commanding!

All ships and dry dock slots in the C-Store are 20% off.
This includes bundles which are comprised only of ships.
This does not include bundles that have items other than ships in them.
The ship upgrade token, ship upgrade token bundle, and the fleet module are all 20% off as well.

Reminds me of Marvel Heroes near the end, when the devs stopped making content and kept retooling systems that didn't need changing for grognard reasons.

Congrats I guess - the Paladin is a nice cruiser but it’s massively overshadowed by other options in the cash shop.

What the Paladin does have going for it is the Temporal gimmick, which means you can kind of fudge things for a weird off-meta energy weapon/scihole mix build.

For weapons, slot dual cannons up the front and turrets in the back. The standard go-to is phasers but for exotic fuckery, you should consider Polaron - the Morphogenic Armaments and Chronometric Calculations sets are both strong and available for free from mission replays. Also have a look at Piezo-Polaron Weapons from the Lukari rep - the advanced version is really good, and the proc from the weapons is a nice way to keep your health up.

For your bridge officers

Lt Com Tac: Cannon Scatter Volley II, Attack Pattern Beta 1, Tactical Team 1
Lt Tac: Distributed Targeting II, Kemocite-Laced Weaponry 1 (should be cheapish on the Exchange)
Com Eng/TempOps: Timeline Collapse III, Chronometric Inversion Field II, Entropic Cascade I, Causal Reversion I
Lt Sci: Photonic Officer I, Science Team I
Lt Eng: Emergency Power to Weapons II, Emergency Power to Engines I

Because you’re doing a lot of exotic stuff, you’ll want to run at least two pieces from the Temporal space set.

This is based very loosely on a really good Temporal Destroyer build from STOBuilds. Check it out and use it as a target.

Just buy the T6 Valiant (trait extends CSV to 14 seconds) and save yourself a billion EC. For most content, you’ll be running against clustered enemies way more than one big one.

Kemocite got majorly nerfed in the last patch because they completely reworked how it functions under the hood. Like 90% damage reduction. They're looking at "fixing" it but I wouldn't recommend picking it up until we know where the final numbers settle.

My account is maxed with alts and half of them are KDF for Marauding. I do Admiralty on all of them for dilithium, prisoner, and colonist missions and sell the KDF prisoners, colonists, and Fed Colonists. Each Colonist from KDF usually sells from 20k+ and prisoners are 15k-20k each. If I manage to sell all of them in one day, that's easily 5 million EC or more on a maxed toon account. I sell the Contraband stacks after 2 weeks which is about 100m+ It takes about an hour and a half to cycle through all of my alts for farming and by the end of one month, I am able to make at least 10-15k zen depending on the market. Sometimes I'll get really good EC Admiralty missions as well that I will do and can make 200k+ per toon just from that. I use the Zen to buy keys or promo packs when they're on sale and open them or sell them depending if I am feeling lucky.

It took me several months to save the Zen to buy the slots for characters but in the end it was worth it not having to spend any money in the game. It's kind of insane of how much work goes into it for one month to save up enough Zen to buy one of those $120 ship bundles if I wanted to. The more the dilithium exchange goes up, the less enticing farming is for me and if it hits 400 I will probably quit the game for awhile.

Oh I’m glad you did the 2000 Zen deal. I was worried you might have bought it as a single item for 3000.

The thing to remember about essential ship purchases is they’re usually not about the ship at all - you buy them for the trait.

- The Arbiter gives you Emergency Weapon Cycle, which is stupidly powerful and can have almost permanent uptime.
- The Valiant gives you a trait I’ve forgotten the name of that gives you 95% uptime on Cannon: Scatter Volley. It’s a really useful boost.
- The Cardassian Intel Science ship gives you Call Before the Storm, which is another very powerful boost to weapon haste and cooldown reduction.
- The new Gagarin gives you Entwined Tactical Matrices, which give you bonus energy spread or torpedo spread skills for activating torpedo spread or energy spread skills, respectively. You can game this to do really dumb poo poo, like have 100% uptime on Beam: Fire at Will or spam torpedo spread without running the actual skill.
- The newer pilot escort bundle is worth a look - Promise of Ferocity is apparently a really strong boost to weapon damage, and Improved Gravity Well is mandatory for running a sciboat.

For aesthetics, nobody’s going to fault whatever ship you fly, but the above are all really good purchases because they unlock game-breakingly good traits for every fed-aligned character on your account.
