Predators really gets a lot of hate but I didn't think it was that bad. We talked about it before in this thread and I really like the whole idea of it. Take a bunch of diverse warriors and drop them into the gaming preserve. See what happens. But yeah, Predator 2 was pretty good. It didn't really do it for me until I watched it a few times. Sometimes that's what it takes for me to finally start to appreciate a movie. Happens all the time. And come on, Bill Paxton.

Predators isn't bad, it's just...kind of boring and okay. The only memorable thing for me is when the yakuza guy engages in the swordfight with the predator.

Doesn't RoboCop get sort of lumped in with Alien and Predator and Terminator? I think they're all sort of connected in the Dark Horse comics.

Predator 1 & 2 are up next for me. Surprised you guys weren't impressed with Predators. I agree about the sword duel, I was tickled they did it and even did the full cliche. Predator really has never looked that good. In the AVP flicks, they have a lot of shots that don't play well with the suits (seeing their feet when walking, head shaking, anything that shows physics aren't matching up with 500 lb muscle wall.) Totally gotta concede on Fishburne. I thought his character was done wrong. Cool concept, but even eating mutant bone boars bacon isn't getting him that big. His 'companion' was a dumb idea that needed to be in a different movie or given way more time to make it not completely a bad idea.

I haven't seen them recently enough but would love this thread's take on the RoboCop trilogy. I had a RoboCop vs the Terminator comic by Frank Miller I think as a kid and it was really awesome.

Mom took 8 year old pastis to see Aliens in the theater in 1986. I still have no idea what she was thinking. Anyway, there was an incredible storm that day and right after Ripley said “They cut the power...” the damned theater went totally dead from a nearby lightning strike. We sat in silent darkness for an eternity (probably 2 minutes) and that pretty much started my lifelong obsession with all things Alien.

Haha, well, I was wrong. I forgot all about Paxton. I really like the isolation in the setting for Predators, but 2 is just a better flick. The guy on the pistol got a comic, apparently. He was a pirate and the predator teams up with him to kill his mutinous crew. The predator got the dude's gun and lived centuries. If we ever live to 300 years, Deadliest Game bullshit is probably some of the tamer stuff humans would be up to. AVP1 and the pirate comic set up that Predators are really space bros, we just need a full on buddy cop movie. Vs the Terminator.

Another fun tidbit, Robert Joy's character in 'AvP: Requiem' was supposed to be Adam Baldwin's character from 'Predator 2', but Baldwin had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts.
