I speak German, and the lyrics are pretty much a take on how German national identity and the ability to be proud of modern Germany and/or German heritage and culture is inextricably connected to the atrocities of the 20th century. It's not that uncommon as a theme in German music. You can't talk about what it means to be German without acknowledging WWII. Anyone who thinks that Rammstein are Nazis hasn't been paying attention for the past 25 years they've been around. This is extremely not a Nazi song.

What tipped you off, the parts where Jewish prisoners shoot a gang of Nazis in the face with shotguns? Tbh the only people I’ve actually seen complaining about the video are nuance-immune chodes like the Israeli foreign ministry. It’s not subtle and you would have to be a complete idiot to think it’s pro-Nazi, even ignoring the lyrics and the band’s history of being avowed leftists.

There's a moment in the new Devin album where it transitions from a super-hectic aggressive song, right into something that sounds like it's from a Disney movie and I burst out laughing. I can see what they mean about listening to this album as a flow, because the transitions are very well done and makes listening quite the journey. The production is fantastic too, not quite as plastic as it's been in the past. Yeah, theres some good tunes here and there. The band is more of an art project looking back on things - they put so much effort into just about every video and their stage show (from what I hear) is insane. I missed em last time they came here but if they come to North America again I don't wanna miss it.
