Is it the UK or EU that administers the local EU elections? I assume are they ready to hold one in the event the UK wishes to stay, otherwise why such a tight deadline for extension? Right now it's not known whether or not they will participate, so I'm not understanding why so close of extension.

If the UK is still in the EU by election day, they absolutely have to hold elections. If they don't that would make all the the other results void.

They have till April to decide if they gonna hold elections or not. If they say no, the EU will end their membership on April 12. If they agree to hold them, they get to stay for longer.(at the very least till the elections are over).

Much as I'm fed up with all this, I don't really want a General Election as well. If the tories won again, it wouldn't really change anything and if Labour won then we'd have to put up with them failing to achieve anything either (as I think their current policy is to go along with Brexit but somehow negotiate differently, by magic I guess). I can't really think of anyone I'd actually want to vote for right now.

Wait a minute, what's Lord Buckethead up to these days?

I like how it's 'by magic' to try negotiating from a position of "Let's not totally gently caress our economy just so we can get rid of the foreign"

Maybe, but would the EU care to have a recently very impoverished country join the bloc, when said country caused an economic downturn in the entire bloc?

I know I wouldn't let them in. Hell if anything the UK could be a good country for cheap manufacturing for the rest of the EU. Educated and cheap working force, absolutely worthless currency, close by and completely dependent on the EU for their economy.
