"Bernie would've won" is true, less because of Bernie, but because Trump winning required a perfect storm of factors working in his favor and changing any of them likely changes the outcome. Like Bernie would've won 2016, but so would Biden or, for that matter, Hillary-if-the-election-had-been-ten-days-earlier.

I kind of think the full story here is “man who has reshaped an entire party he doesn’t nominally belong to in his political image and singlehandedly sparked a socialist renaissance in America would have been a better candidate than the nominee who was so widely loathed it was common for news stories predicting her election to mention that the only reason her historic unpopularity wasn’t a problem was because Trump’s was worse.”

Honestly, it’s easier now than ever to see that Bernie Would’ve Won is true.

I mean if Sanders loses in 2020, the embarrassment of the left will hopefully be a balm during our rapid descent to full totalitarian dystopia

Luckily he’s going to win.

It's funny how much the popular wisdom of this forum has changed. Three years ago I was being told she didn't need to campaign there and that they were inevitable wins.

I hope we get a Texas primary poll soon. I'm very curious to see how Beto's numbers have held up there, especially with it being a Super Tuesday state this time 'round. I'm starting to suspect that he will fill the centrist void when Biden inevitably tanks.

Hahaha conviction doesn't mean predicting something without any evidence.

I don't know whether Bernie would win a general, and neither do you. There isn't enough information to know either way. Thr best signs will begin after the convention next year.

*throws up hands in air* How can we possibly know? It's not like polls have been posted or donation numbers, or any sort of metric that indicates potential success! Every candidate has an equal chance of winning the nomination!

This is just sad now.

Obviously anyone saying "I am 100% certain beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bernie will win" is exaggerating, but it's entirely reasonable to say that based on the available information we have, the Dem candidate in 2020 is favored to win, and Bernie is one of the stronger performers among them
