Why is nobody talking about this, either by itself or in connection with the male sexless rate? Also, within the under-30 range, who isn't having sex? Is this a wave coming from the youngest end, or a post-collegiate phenomenon, or...?

Seems like there's less sex across the board, more impotence, lower sperm counts, higher rates of breast cancer etc. Could just be lifestyle and anxiety poo poo like you say, but previous generations of poor people still hosed.

Food for thought: we're seeing evidence of thiamine deficiency across large sections of the animal kingdom, that doesn't appear linked to either climate change or our agricultural practices. It's happening and we have no idea why.

Being obese distorts the body's balance of sex hormones by overexpressing the aromatase enzyme (in fact it has been shown that aromatase inhibiting drugs can reverse this effect in obese men) and thus obese men are more likely to suffer from problems like erectile dysfunction, hypogonadism, and gynecomastia (man boobs). The cause is excessive bodyfat. The same problem occurs in women, but since they don't produce high levels of testosterone they face different consequences for disrupting the balance, such as PCOS. Obesity in men and women creates a disruption in sex hormone balance that can lead to serious medical problems (eg: breast cancer in women) and to get back to the original point: diminished sexual health. Xenoestrogens (eg: BPA and many other pollutants) do play a role in the decline in male fertility, however I think the elephant in the room is obesity. Men and women are getting fatter and that has a direct connection to sex hormone regulation and fertility. Xenoestrogens can definitely cause fertility problems but exposure varies a great deal as do the consequences for various endocrine disruptors. Phytoestrogens are essentially harmless to humans and IMO the internet (especially 4chan) has made a mountain out of a molehill ("soyboys") because the binding affinity of most phytoestrogens is so loving low that it can't be affecting the population in a non-trivial way. Phytoestrogens from soy and flax have been studied clinically and show little to no impact on human sexual function. So, to summarize: - obesity causes sexual health problems (and is largely responsible for the decline in male fertility) - xenoestrogens contribute to sexual health problems but are far more limited in scope than obesity - phytoestrogens (like in soy) are not only harmless, they very likely have a positive impact on human health because of their low affinity for the human estrogen receptor Thanks for reading my carepost.

The #sexRecession most likely does not have chemical or hormonal causes. Among lots of other factors, it's mainly social and economic. "Lack of sex" isn't the real problem. The root cause is that young people's social lives are being wrecked by the one-two punch of lack of accessible public social spaces and increasing reliance on social media. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2019...eUwi-h5u9sSpXXE Bullfrog has issued a correction as of 02:23 on Apr 1, 2019 |
