I'm running into some problems with images not loading now, the odd thing is it's not all sites. Imgur loads fine, but others appear to be not. It's also on two different networks and on mobile data as well

A very specific bug that probably doesn't affect anyone but me... It looks like wildcard characters in usernames aren't escaped when the app is doing searches for instances of the logged in users name. Basically, anything in a post text that would return true to a search for T.C. using the periods as wildcards gets replaced with my username. There are a few three or four character usernames that get replaced in quote attributions and then the reply is highlighted as if it is mine and says I posted it. Also, just text like below talking about THC https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3885188&pagenumber=3&perpage=40#post493576487 I kind of think it's funny.

Weird! What are the exact steps you're doing there? Just using the find-in-page option on any page of a thread? Or is automatic with "highlight when I'm mentioned" or whatever the option's called?iospace posted:I'm running into some problems with images not loading now, the odd thing is it's not all sites. Speaking of Find on Page, can it be fixed to work with the Default theme? It does black text on dark gray and is difficult to read.

Or is automatic with "highlight when I'm mentioned" or whatever the option's called? It looks like it's the highlight my username option that is doing it. When I turn it off the behaviour stops. When the username being replaced is exactly four characters it will change the name and then the reply highlighting option will also highlight their replies thinking it's me. That behavior goes away too when I turn off the highlight my username option. T.C. fucked around with this message at 18:11 on Apr 1, 2019 |

You probably saved me a bunch of time by pointing that out, cheers are you on the beta? I'm gonna push a main update soon but it's being tested on beta right now

I'm having a weird issue where specifically timg'd images aren't showing up anywhere. All others do. Kicked the app out of memory. Rebooted the phone. Doesn't seem to help. Not sure what to try next. On whatever version is on the store. I haven't changed any settings recently. I'm sure it's one of these things that will magically resolve itself once we start looking into it, but eh. Edit: never mind, I'm seeing it on desktop to 6 Flipperwaldt fucked around with this message at 13:34 on Apr 2, 2019 |

More and more things are being posted as mp4 instead of gif for I guess fine reasons but is there a way to get them to load in line like a gif does? Clicking away from the app to view every image is no bueno

When I click a quote to go back to an earlier post in a thread, I don't seem to be able to go back to the originating post. If I click back from the app's navigation menu, I go to previous page. If I click back from the phone's navigation menu, I leave the thread.

Yeah there are still some issues with that unfortunately - if the post you go to is on another page, the back button should take you back to where you were. If it's on the same page, it just needs to scroll to where you were before, but storing/restoring the scroll position is a thing we haven't sorted out yet just FYI, the arrows on the page bar just go prev/next page in the thread, it's not a back button - use yr phone's button for that

I don't have a Twitter account nor do I have an app, when I click through to tweets, I'm taken to chrome. Every time I open a tweet in the browser, I get an error that I'm "rate limited" and should try again. Is this something to do with how awful.apk is sending me to Twitter dot com?

I think it's just a dumb Twitter thing, it's not an issue exclusive to this app. Or even Chrome, I see it with Firefox as well.

Yeah it's the embed tag in the URL. If you trim out all the gobbleygook after the actual valid twitter link it will load normally. Basically twitter limits embed loading numbers as a safety/utilisation thing, so visiting that url in a browser (with ?ref=somethingawful%20com etc) is just like viewing it in an embed, e.g. likely to be time out and be rate limited.

Just had to jump in and see if anyone was having the same issue. Latest update now loads up blank pages. So when I start the app I can see the forums, but when I go into any thread, it loads to, nothing. Completely blank. Also if you tap on Bookmarks it shows up for a split second, then also goes blank. Pixel 2XL, Stock os. Everything was working before said update today.

^^^ nah it's cool, might be better for the dev thread though thing about early development builds is that stuff will break in them, and this app is basically a fancy specialised web browser, so we're relying on the WebView to display thread content, its HTML5 video player to properly display video, Twitter's embed code to set everything up correctly... there's a lot of moving parts, and they've all gotta handle their own business preparing for the next version, so it's a little early to be chasing bugs for that kind of thing on our end I'll definitely watch out for it though. Did it break when you hit play, or did you try to fullscreen it? I know there's an issue with fullscreen in some of the current webview implementations EdEddnEddy posted:Just had to jump in and see if anyone was having the same issue. They put in half-baked stuff, it breaks stuff. If it's still broken when the release is done, we'll fix it. But from experience, we likely won't have to. I apologize, it's just a yearly routine I'm a bit tired of.

I'm having the same problem on a rooted Nexus 10 running Android 7.1.1 Everything looks normal, until I try to open a thread, then it's just a blank white page with the reply icon on the bottom right. Clearing all data and reinstalling didn't help. Started happening with the 3.6.4 update.

Similar, mine loaded but all my read indicators were gone. Bookmarks were blank. Entering a thread I've read started at the beginning but leaving it restored everything. Logout and login didn't resolve it. Edit: Turns out I have to enter every thread twice to get the text to show up. ClassActionFursuit fucked around with this message at 16:27 on Apr 6, 2019 |

I just had the same issue, turned out my login cookie expired in the AM - maybe a bunch of people logged into the app around the same time a year ago, maybe around a particular release? Anyhow logging out and logging back in should fix it - you might need to close and restart the app after, so the new login cookie is set in the webview. Stuff like no bookmarks and no thread unread counts sound like behaviour for someone who's not logged in. The thread view stuff is weird, but it might be a side effect, the app's not supposed to let you browse if you're not logged in so it might get screwy gotta fix that cookie expiry behaviour though
