Growth in the UK economy has almost “ground to halt” amid the ongoing uncertainty over Brexit, businesses have warned.

Meanwhile the lack of clarity over the UK’s future relationship with the EU is also continuing to weigh on potential investors in both the manufacturing and services sector, according to research.

It comes after a poll of 7,000 companies by the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC) found that business was “hitting the brakes” because of the uncertainty.

‘Sharp slowdown’

The BCC said its study – covering the first three months of the year – should serve as a “clear warning” that the ongoing impasse was contributing to a “sharp slowdown” in the UK’s economy.

“These are some of the weakest figures we’ve seen in nearly a decade and that’s no coincidence,” said BCC director general Dr Adam Marshall.

“The prospect of a messy and disorderly exit from the EU is weighing heavily on the UK economy and must still be avoided.”

In a separate report, Goldman Sachs suggested nearly 2.5 per cent had been shaved off the UK’s gross domestic product (GDP) since the 2016 referendum.

Bzzzzt, wrong. It was never legally binding. It would be bad optics to deny ~~the will of the people~~ regardless of what the actual current will of the people is, but it's not overturning a democratic decision, it's overruling an advisory decision based on new information (aka how badly we'd get hosed by it).

How is may gonna try and jam her same deal through repeatedly with cutesy poo poo like adjusted margins but having a second referendum 2 years later with an arguably more informed population is anti-democratic?

I've heard that before, but also that the Ninja turtles are the ones who originally connected nanchaku (and all the rest of their weapons other than swords) with ninjas in the first place.

Not from the UK, but until a minute ago I thought they were hero turtles everywhere!

The funniest part to me is that none of this has brought them one step closer to the white ethno-state and now that May's deal and no deal are off the table it never will. All that damage for absolutely nothing. The gammons spend their retirement funds on magic beans :allears:
