Tunicate posted:Dude my phone is saying thats a 70 mb gif Wow, most sites these days are actually transcoding things like this over to mp4 and making it act like gif to the browser (looping with no controls). For instance, Twitter is doing that and it's kind of a pain in the rear end to save "gifs" from Twitter these days. I bet that would be under 10mb depending on the codec. https://developers.google.com/web/fundamentals/performance/optimizing-content-efficiency/replace-animated-gifs-with-video/ lol, I just converted it as a test and ended up with a 781kb file. did Nana Visitor and Alexander Siddig's divorce end messily or are they still on good terms? Because I'm noticing Kira and Bashir have really good understated chemistry and it'd be really sad if their actors didn't get along anymore.

I finally decided to check the Enterprise guest episodes in Discovery and while I kinda wish they'd done like the ENT mirror episodes and stuck to the original (which, yes, actually, do hold up with minimal updates because the model is a whole lot more detailed than TOS' lovely quality lets on), at least even the updated Eavesprise manages to emphasize just how hideous their design for Discovery is. That said I pretty much have no interest in Disco for now esp. as long as it's not on Netflix here so I really don't have a lot of opinions on the show itself. Interestingly I saw some leaked test footage of an earlier Discovery design that would've probably been just before Fuller left. Further on from the original comic-con footage but before the redesign that happened when they changed execs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnSx5Q1bN7Y https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwmXZk14-MY Seems to be real, since CBS has taken down a bunch of copies of it. I like it better than what we got: obviously the filled-in saucer is better, but the slightly raised nacelles help a huge amount balancing the design vertically. Also it looks more like it could fly alongside TMP era ships without standing out. MikeJF fucked around with this message at 09:54 on Apr 2, 2019 |

Isn't this also partly because of the whole "no round nacelles" which apparently Fuller insisted on during early design?

Pick posted:Iirc That entire cast has notoriously gotten along well I think the thing I read was that DS9 never developed anything close to the level of friendship that (most of? all?) of the TNG had with each other, it was much more professional. Positive, but professional*. *Except those reports about Avery Brooks insisting that literally everyone call him Mr. Brooks, which may or may not be just rumor? Wouldn't be surprised if VOY's cast hated each other... it's well-known that there was a poo poo ton of drama between Mulgrew and Jeri Ryan. With ENT, who knows?

One of the reasons the Chakotay/Janeway romance petered out was apparently that the actors couldn't stand each other on top of it being hackneyed and dumb.

Going by con Q&A's where they were pretty open about that stuff, I think most of the VOY cast ended up getting along pretty well, barring Ryan/Mulgrew. I saw a video of a panel with Jeri Ryan and Garrett Wang where he broke down in tears talking about how he tried to fix the bad blood between Ryan and Mulgrew, because it felt like two of his family members were fighting.

That's why the D would have been perfect in First Contact. Worf has to spacewalk in order to uncouple Guinan's giant face from the ship before the Borg can weaponize it.
