when i was like 17 i spent a few weeks or so browsing /b/ (way way back before the altright), and i just remember them doing some terrible, terrible poo poo to people. if you were hesitant about like, trolling total random peoples memorial website for their dead children to the point people were calling up the family and harassing their family irl, you were a Moralfag and needed to GTFO. it is not surprising at all to me that a community built around total nihilism and frankly evil evolved into a new fascist movement. anyone who spent a lot of time on 4chan is probably going to be a piece of poo poo tbh
