Which I of course am all for. As they filter through society and hopefully seize more control of the party it will hopefully taper off.

In my experience it trends liberal rather than left, though there are probably more socialists in humanities than the general population they aren't ubiquitous. Plenty of nominally progressive types in my area have lost their loving minds over Brexit and gone full fubpee for example, though there are a lot of EU citizens which probably skews it. STEM types are extremely bad, however.

Politically I reckon physicists want to be lefty but are lazy and don't really want to actively approach it. For the younger crowd you can append 'unless it looks good on twitter' to that. Academic twitter is loving terrible.

So anyone entering the UK or Ireland will be checked at the port/border and there's no need to check people for flights between the countries or at the border. This isn't 100% true. I'm South African and need a visa for being in the UK for any reason, but I can visit Ireland without a visa. Which makes the lack of border checking amusing.
