The ant thread is up, with all the pictures I had from my guys so far! Plus some science and more to come!Stoner Sloth posted:That is interesting - alkaloids more generally occur in poisons than in venoms (usually proteins or peptides). Do they know if the alkaloids are acquired environmentally or if the ants make them themselves? This is actually still an very active field of research, as the detailed nature of how they produce it is still hidden. It is believed to be very similar to how bees to it (obviously, as they are closely related), so they synthesize their cyto- and hemotoxic liquid somewhere in the gaster (the big butt-like thing on the abdomen), most likely using things their cells poop out. Since most ants however produce a venom similar to Apitoxin, I probably did not do enough reading yet to fully reflect what we know by now.

Also I don't think Jesus is real but I believe that a winged goddess-bird that washes armor in blood and landed on a disemboweled culture hero, in bird form, and took a poo poo on his shoulder as he was dying and tied to a rock with his own entrails, is real, so I guess that's okay.

I wish my life was as good as these fruit flies we are studying. They just eat, gently caress, and then die by drowning in ethanol.

Would you guys rank cornflakes on the top of breakfast choices?
|

Corn flakes rank significantly below no breakfast at all.

Goons Are Great posted:Would you guys rank cornflakes on the top of breakfast choices? cornflakes are not bad but to me they seem a bit . . . insubstantial. plus you've gotta eat them literally the second they hit the milk. my go-to cereal is barbara's morning oat crunch which thankfully trader joes carries at a substantial discount because otherwise it is p expensive with fruit ofc at one time I was fond of quaker oat squares but they changed the recipe and totally hosed them up. so I searched around and the barbara's cereal ended up being the closest thing to the old recipe, in fact it may be better

Cornflakes are naked Frosted Flakes. To compensate I add copious quantities of sugar to the pre-milk bolm negating any pretense of "healthy'
