I thought the VR Labo stuff was a late April fools day thing. If it works, it sounds pretty awesome but I would definitely wait for some hands on impressions. My first concern is, I'm assuming you can't adjust the IPD which would vary pretty greatly from a child to an adult. VR is great, but for more traditional units I'm waiting for them to feel less like you are wearing a helmet and more like you are wearing goggles.

I'm laughing remembering that poster who wrote a post wondering if Nintendo was done with LABO since there hadn't been any updates while Nintendo posted the LABO VR announcement at the very same time, making it seem like he did a fakepost.

Btw just a heads up that if you have Enter the Gungeon it got a free update with new content today (and claims it will be the last content update ever, kudos to the devs for supporting it so long).

Anybody have anything to say wrt the performance of Darksiders in handheld mode? The one review I've seen that actually mentions it says the framerate chugs with occasional freezes, but every other review is positive and doesn't seem to mention performance at all.

Digital Foundry ran an article on it and said it runs about 540p and drops to 50-ish FPS in some of the more intense fights but otherwise works great. E: In performance mode. Standard is 720p at 30 FPS with minor drops.

Am I the only one who's more or less totally ok with 720p? Like, I get it; it's a lower resolution, but I find that I can't stand watching too many DF videos because I keep thinking (for the most part) "So? It looks fine, who cares? 720p is fine!" I guess I really put gameplay and overall art direction ahead of graphics I do appreciate a smooth framerate, though.

I've never played Gungeon on PC but I was able to play very well on PS4 and don't find the Switch version controls feel different (other than I dislike the default button binds and change them) compared to that. I'm playing worse but it isn't the version or controller I'm just rusty.

The thing I like about Digital Foundry videos is that they don't usually give a game grief for technical limitations, it just says that they exist and lets people make up their own minds about how much those limitations matter, especially for Switch games. Personally, I think higher resolutions matter with higher levels of detail (and games that tend to involve small targets, like flight sims and such), but most of what's on the Switch works perfectly fine at 720p.

I had to replace my right one after about a year and a half and I treat my switch like it's made of eggshells. I got a pro controller and a satisfye grip for handheld mode. The grip makes the whole unit a lot sturdier and the pro controller is a tank. However keep in mind that the pro controller is for SERIOUS pro gamers only.

Even on my computer, I will gladly turn down the graphics for more stable framerates(which I also think is more important than having a high framerate). Anything that looks better than real life does so because of the art style, which doesn't get hurt much by going down a bit. And anything else looks worse than real life anyway.

You can say "graphics aren't everything" all you want, but nothing in the world can replicate playing Forza Horizon 4 in front of a 65" 4K OLED tv. It truly makes a difference.

That game does look amazing but I found it so boring after a few hours. Same with Red Dead 2. I do wish the Switch could perform like an Xbox One X at 4K but it’s mostly good enough to me that I don’t really care. It bothers me less than the Wii/360 and PS3 disparity.

I've had my Switch since 2017 and have never had any issues with the joycons (or anything else) and I've played with them exclusively since I only use it handheld. Not for lack of use either, I've almost exclusively played video games on the Switch since I got it. With how much people are talking about having gone through fifteen joycons and stuff I guess I was lucky and got the secret indestructible ones

Joycon drift can also depend on the game you're playing. Tangledeep seems to have little if any deadzone set for the sticks, so even the slightest amount of drift can manifest as multiple inputs when browsing a menu. If you're at all concerned about whether your joycon is drifting, the calibration tool in the system settings is a good way to test. If it drifts, then it'll take just the slightest bit longer to reset to zero when you let go, or it might not reset entirely at all and will hover near the actual zero point.
