The only serious vice my Monster has is rear brake master cylinders basically being wear items. Blowing the seals is such a regular occurrence (and such a complete pain in the arse to fix) that most mechanics just go ahead and replace the whole thing (25 quid and half-hour labour) rather than doing the two or three hours of work required to get out the one little bit of air that inevitably gets trapped in them when you replace the seals.

I have a long list of issues with the fazer but they're minor and if you're honest most bikes have lots of things like this:

The underseat exhaust means the battery is under the fuel tank (but in winter I appreciate the tailpipe being close to my bum).

Because the battery is under the fuel tank, the tank is mounted on a pivot near the saddle end and held in by two bolts on the front of the frame near the steering pivot. Those two bolts regularly jiggle themselves free.

The injector blows into a throttle body with separate ports that need to be balanced each service, like when you have multiple carbs. Failing to do this makes the vibrations unbearable.

Sometimes when riding the indicators stop working. The only fix is to switch the bike off and on again.

Front pistons get a little sticky. I have to massage them every 6 months or so.

The big one: there's a chain for each of the two camshafts and one that drives the oil pump. Basically three chains I have to remember to check every year under penalty of total engine failure.

My brother almost bought a sports bike. He did the test and stuff I think, then went to buy some fancy looking sports bike, might have been a Kawasaki Ninja or something? Took it out for a test ride, scared himself shitless, and never rode a road bike again.

I think he still ended up doing quite a bit of motocross riding though.

They're not going to, it's been their consistent position since the referendum. The question is what are they planning to replace it with, which they haven't been very clear about, so it's mostly up to what you think they're likely to go with.

It's just May saying "my deal is good" and trying to push the idea that some progress is being made, when she's actually just shoving a piece of paper across the table with the same deal everyone already rejected multiple times. It's raising expectations and trying to make it harder for Labour to credibly say "we couldn't agree to this"

Who knows what will happen, but the Tories are in full spin mode right now

Well, here's Labour's position on it if you want clarity:

quote:

Labour offers fair rules and reasonable management of migration. In trade negotiations our priorities favour growth, jobs and prosperity. We make no apologies for putting these aims before bogus immigration targets.

Freedom of movement will end when we leave the European Union. Britain’s immigration system will change, but Labour will not scapegoat migrants nor blame them for economic failures.

Labour will develop and implement fair immigration rules. We will not discriminate between people of different races or creeds. We will end indefinite detentions and distinguish between migrant labour and family attachment and will continue to support the work of the Forced Marriage Unit. We will replace income thresholds with a prohibition on recourse to public funds. New rules will be equally informed by negotiations with the EU and other partners, including the Commonwealth.

Whatever our trade arrangements, we will need new migration management systems, transparent and fair to everybody. Working with businesses, trade unions, devolved governments and others to identify specific labour and skill shortages.

Working together we will institute a new system which is based on our economic needs, balancing controls and existing entitlements. This may include employer sponsorship, work permits, visa regulations or a tailored mix of all these which works for the many, not the few.

Labour will protect those already working here, whatever their ethnicity. Our National Education Service will raise the level of skills and training. We will take decisive action to end the exploitation of migrant labour undercutting workers’ pay and conditions.

Labour will crack down on unscrupulous employers. We will stop overseas-only recruitment practices, strengthen safety-at- work inspections and increase prosecutions of employers evading the minimum wage.
