Tanks still suck but you don't gotta hand it to the Axis either.
On the 120mm the training sabots arent uranium, theyre steel. Further theyre not APFSDS but APCSDS- a tail cone instead of tail fins. This artificially limits the maximum range for training rounds (blue markings) How it works I Dunno but ive heard the cone starts bringing the dart down radically after approx. 4km of flight distance.

Only reason you would be firing DU service rounds would be Special Circumstances since theyre more expensive, wear the barrel faster and mean you should by regs do bore cleaning on MOPP 4 afterwards.

Steel is less dense than uranium, and the tail cone combined with that make it more unstable.

I love that we were told we had to clear every blown put vehicle we came across during the invasion.
They didn't tell us we were supposed to be in MOPP because they had all been hit by DU.

I'm gonna die.lol

4km would be consistent with the story I was told (IIRC, as this was about 12 years ago, it was found 2-3 miles off post.)

Fighting the VA. They say my lung issues were deconditioning.
Not exposure to DU.
Not exposure to burning oil wells.
Not being exposed to multiple decaying WMD munitions with no PPE.
Not exposure to burning pesticides.

I could go on, but the VA doesn't give a gently caress.
I am going to set an appt with a civ specialist this week

my fav part of the military is the marines forcing the sgt thats been in for 10 years to live in the barracks but the 18 year old that got married to a chick he dated for a year in high school gets a house.

this was because all the line units had just gotten new barracks that were actually nice (for marine standards) except out battalion was only stood up for a few years and was stood down in 2012-13 so they obv didn't build us any so our VETERAN WARRIOrs are just living in loving cinder blocks for literallly 10 years of their lives in rooms where the lighting is as bright as a loving opium den

really though the marines pushed for unmarried NCOs to live in barracks because the civil engineers that designed the traffic leading into/out of base should be summary executed

You just know some Major somewhere in that decision chain also said something like "Having unmarried NCOs around will be good influence on our junior enlisted" which just goes to prove how loving stupid they are. The married Sgt who lived in our barracks in Okinawa told me how much he loved his wife with his hands full of the tits of 2 buy me drinky girls.
