I don't know, maybe this translation is not accurate? Anyway, it just pops out of nowhere and not exactly the ending I was expecting for that plotline, but it's ok I guess.

My mind filed that under a very loose interpretation of "while I was there". He rediscovered his original power there, which was the only thing we saw him do. Which may factor in, but that doesn't explain the demon king form.
So I figured it was either badly translated or one of those Meliodas moments where what he says isn't quite the truth.
Could also be shoddy writing.

I loved this mini arc. If someone were to show me this I'd immediately decide to keep reading this manga.
It was so stupid.
I'm torn on outfitting Rebecca with a swimsuit though. It comes so out of left field that I couldn't help but laugh.
But it serves no purpose other than the authors horniness which is a bit annoying, but considering the other stuff he's put her through it's not that surprising either. :ohdear:
Eden's Zero is fun and that's all I want it to be. FT was at its best when it was having fun and just awful when it tried to be serious.

And yeah, Mashima may very well be The Horniest Mangaka. Arguably hornier than literal porn artists, and considering how prolific he is with manga and such, perhaps he is fueled by his desire to drive as close to the edge as he can possibly go without going over. "As long as I pretend to make this manga mainly about friendship and punching, maybe they won't mind if I keep beinga big old weirdo and making my villains sexual sadists towards the same character over and over again."

I've never read To-Love-Ru or the Yuna Hotsprings one but as I understand it they're filled with tits from the get-go and are both fanservice-focused manga right?

I guess that kind of thing might make them technically hornier, I don't know, I'd have to read the manga to gauge. (But I don't especially want to.) The way I see it, there's a difference between selling sex outright and selling something else and just stuffing it full of sex. A late night Cinemax movie VS Game of Thrones. I think Mashima's ability to maintain the facade of a typical friendship and hotblooded shonen series and just getting increasingly horny as it goes on without giving in and just making a titty manga is what earns him that title for me. For all I know, the other two could be just drawing naked ladies because it sells. Mashima I can know is doing it because he loves it and he is too horny to hold back.

I read all of Act-Age last night. People should read it. It's real good.

Mangadex doesn't have all the chapters though unfortunately, so you'll have to rely on kissmanga or those other mirror hosts to read all of it, since there's a large gap for the official translation at the moment.

up to chapter 42 is up on fallen angel's own site(which seems to be down right now), then you have to read a kinda bad quality 43-45 which I think is up on mangadex because fascans dropped it as soon as it was announced viz were doing the simulpub of it, apparently working on the theory that viz were going to have the backlog translated really quickly and then after that is up on shonen jump although you'd have to get the sub at this point

Now if you're a little bit familiar with PoT you might think this is a visual metaphor, like when they turn tennis balls into lightning bolts, or black holes, or the meteorite that killed the dinosaurs. But no, those are real horses and this is actually happening.

I'm reading that Platinum End manga (that I think is by the Death Note writer), and while it's not that good I like the part where they're deciding to move to a new place and the girl is just like "eh let's just steal the money from some rich people, they can spare it."

I feel like this series would have benefited from the characters being given more interesting powers. One of the abilities (to make people do what you want, with some limitations) has some potential, though it hasn't been used in very interesting ways yet (largely because the protagonists, unlike Death Note guy, are not terrible people), but the others are just "insta-kill someone" and "fly around really fast."

edit: lol at the part where the older man who worked at an apparel company just whips together this fancy high-tech suit for the girl with a head's up display and poo poo

edit2: I like how the villain guy (or at least the villain of this first arc) is basically a Republican stereotype

I gotta say, shooting the guy at point-blank range with a machine gun is one hell of a way to end the fight

That scene saved this chapter for me. I was getting really annoyed at the teacher/mom misunderstanding. It felt so cheap, but then this showed up and the chapter ended just fine.

Still loving how Kominami in general still is aware that Yuiga is a magnet for this stuff.

First episode was weirdly crowded and felt rushed. Also the art/animation is pretty mediocre. I hope it's just because the first chapter of the manga was double-sized, so they felt like they needed to jam on through chapter 2 to explain the girls' motivations.

Next week introduces Uruka and hopefully starts to find a better stride.

Tbf Ichigo 100% worked off that premise. Whether it was well executed is debatable. And then there’s non WSJ Shonen stuff like Seo Kouji’s manga...

The problem with Ichigo 100% was every other girl was way better than Tsukasa and the author explicitly broke the rule of First Girl Wins. Then they decided to make a sequel where Aya meets a doppleganger of Junpei just to rub salt in the wound.

Fumino is by far the best girl, though Uruka is the one who I'll feel the worst for if she "loses."

The manga should have Yuiga end up with Uruka and then break up several years later and then meet sensei again when he's like 30 and she's 36 or whatever.

edit: btw Platinum End is actually kinda growing on me. The plot events actually feel less contrived than Death Note's.

He'll need a child to infiltrate a school frequented by his target, and a wife to maintain cover. Little does he know his adopted daughter is a mind reading esper on the run from the organization that gave her powers, and his wife is a hitman just looking for cover herself.
