i live once more

i have taken to walking in circles through the streets where i live. the crows still do not trust me, and they are right in this. i mean, they eat the peanuts, but they generally do so only after i mince away or with a spotter or three, if im nearby but v clearly too busy smoking a pipe to be able to be an immediate threat

also i have discovered that there is a landlords thread on this forums, for landlords to post in about how best to be a capitalist leech vampire

Lips are pretty amazing, they're like elephant trunks but closer to you.

I'm trying to imagine a bird with lips. Like, the lip is around the edge of the beak.

What's the opposite of creativity? Anime?

I've been discovering that I'm vaguely claustrophobic. Watching videos of caving on YouTube for research on a project and NOPE, the idea of getting trapped in a tiny gap with no space to move just taps directly into my lizard-brain and makes me want to run screaming. Which means it's perfect brain-fuel, right?

Do you believe in magic, Tenno?
maybe i should invest in a screen tablet someday. i feel like it takes years to get a comic page done so i might as well invest in something i can actually see. wacom recently announced a new tablet called the cintiq 16hd which is a 600 dollar tablet which...i could kinda afford....if i do a poo poo ton of porn commissions or some poo poo. hell, maybe enough to afford the higher end 16 inch models. I feel like I'm not happy with my intuos pro. i find it kinda frustrating for line work and the lack of documentation on digital painting clip studio makes it hard to use it for painting things. so i just gave up and scream to my parents to buy it during the summer. (or i get it myself saying it's for college)

so should i? i know alternatives exist but i'm too paranoid that i might get parallax or it might not be compatible with my clip studio paint.

I'm kind of in the same boat - I find working on the Intuos uncomfortable, I just don't enjoy it physically, and I'm not sure if I should move away from digital or just double down and get a draw-on-screen tablet.

Important: What is the source of your discomfort?

If it's something like the hand-eye coordination disconnect, then yeah there's no question that making the jump to a screen tablet will improve your experience.

If it's a posture/ergonomics issue, consider that it's likely going to take some more doing than just going to a screen tablet. What is your desk height relative to your head height and will you have to hunch over? How much desk space do you have, will you have to rearrange things every time you switch between keyboard and tablet? Does the tablet come with its own robust mounting solution that gives it a good range of positioning heights and angles, or is the tablet VESA compatible so you can put it on a mounting arm for versatility?
I had to put mine on top of a monitor stand directly over my keyboard. The constant annoyanceg of rearranging my desk just to use it - and having to do this very gently because Wacom put their planned obsolescence in fragile connectors - and it being so low that I'd get neck pain within minutes really made me not want to ever use it. Just propping it up five inches was enough to solve both of those. Depending on what tablet screen you're looking at, it might be that simple and cheap, it might not.

Also brace yourself for driver fuckery. It's gonna happen, whether Wacom or the misc. Chinese brands that are very gradually forcing Wacom towards saner prices.

There's some very good mobile solutions in the form of iPad Pro and Surface Pro. The smaller sizes and refurbs can definitely come close to budget. But, keep in mind they tend to be about sketchbook sized at best, which may or may not suit what you want to do with them.

I don't know about compatibility issues (I had none but I'm using Artweaver) but I'm using the Huion KAMVAS pro 13 and I'm loving it. It's 360 dollars currently ( I got mine off a sale so a bit cheaper) and it feels so much more natural to draw on the screen than looking up while your hands are down. On the bum side, I don't always notice when I'm holding it awkwardly until my neck aches. Like it used to when I used to draw manually :D

Yeah, I think a surface pro is the way to go. But that's gonna take some serious saving-for. Anyone want to buy a kidney?

Seriously though, you might wanna see if your could borrow one before you pay an arm and a leg for one, because no matter how much better it feels drawing on the screen, the satisfaction you get from irl drawing is different. It's quite possible you might never get the same satisfaction from digital.
