I just assumed that since the old Genesis, Equus, and Kia K9/K900 Sedans had a V8. I don't recall if I actually looked because LOL I can't afford them in any case. david_a posted:Both the G80 and G90 still have a V8 in the top trim. There were rumors that they were dropping the V8 in favor of the V6TT they use in the G80 Sport but that didn’t happen for this model year. AHA! Nice cars, though. ComfyPants posted:Don't know how you'll take this news, but the front half of that strip lights up for the DRLs. The actual chrome strip, not just the bit under the headlights? That's a neat trick, but I still hate the "chrome" part, and now that precludes just dipping it or something, if you want to keep that feature.

The cactus was a bit weird, but I still think it had some charm to it, but I honestly like the way they integrated those anti-rear end in a top hat-parker-pillows into the C3, especially with the color options. It seems like there are different variations now (saw one couple of days ago that had a lot of those pillows on the rear), but for something that is basically an absolute no-go on paper, it actually looks pretty fitting and good? Some friends came with us on our last big road trip around Germany, Austria and Switzerland and their car was the current C3. They rated it very highly; comfortable, easy to drive, easy to park, decent room inside for its size. All in all a decent car for pottering around urban environments. [Jeremy Clarkson voice]Unfortunately we were not pottering around urban environments and instead were on a grand tour mostly around the alps and it did have some glaring shortcomings in that regard. It was absolutely gutless, not quite as good on fuel as you’d expect a car like that to be, and it has a tiny fuel tank. They’d be down to a quarter full when mine (a BMW 320i) would just be ticking past two thirds. It was a hire car though and they bought themselves a new car not long after. An automatic Nissan Juke.

So here's my confession: I recently watched a review on the Pontiac Aztek on regular car reviews and I kinda like it. It's as if someone said 'Swiss Army Knife, but car'. Like it has a fold out tent and everything. Never seen one IRL but it was at least as courageous and the Fiat Multipla and it'd love to rent one for a day. Just to take a nap in the trunk while playing the radio from the media control buttons in the trunk.

I like the Aztek’s concept and functionality. I actually like the interior. I just can’t get over the extreme derpiness if the exterior. The concept car looked a lot better, but then GM forced it to fit the minivan platform.

Since we were talking food a while ago, here is my addition as a simple quick and not too expensive veggie meal: Mediterranean veggie pan A pan of veggies that can be eaten with or be a filling for pitas and Turkish bread. It tastes roughly like the aroma you get from kebab or the whiff you get when you’re walking through a Turkish or Greek food shop. Works great in all seasons. Reasonably cheap provided you have a big box of cumin and pepper powder (I get these at an ethnic grocer, who sells 500g cumin for a few quid). Serves 2, takes 30 minutes to make, requires 1 pan to clean. Note: when I’m referring to spoons I mean the spoons in your cutlery drawer, not the standardized measures. Ingredients for the pan Veggies: bell pepper (1), aubergine (1), zucchini (1), large onion (1) Spices: cumin, smoked pepper powder (if choice, sweet rather than hot), chili, salt, nutmeg (fresh works best) Other: water (50 ml), vinegar Ingredients for the sauce Store-bought hummus OR self-made tzatziki (200g unsweetened (!) soy or dairy yoghurt, 1-2 pressed or diced cloves of garlic (powder is okay as substitute), bit of oil, dill, and pepper) Preparation 1. Sauce Either serve the hummus, or prepare the tzatziki. For the tzatziki: *Put the yoghurt in a bowl *Press or dice the garlic into it, along a spoonful of oil *While stirring, add dill and pepper until the surface is specked *If possible let the mixture rest in the fridge for a while before serving. The taste rounds out while the mixture sits. 2. Spice mixture *Take a small mug. *Add a half-filled tea spoon of salt, chili (flakes), and nutmeg each *Add 1.5-2 tea spoons of cumin and 1.5-2 smoked pepper powder each. *Stir. You should have a powder in the mug that is red-brownish, with some other-colored specks in. Don’t worry about the exact measurements, you can add more later. 3. Veggie pan *Peel the aubergine. Then cut all the veggies into pieces, dices work best. Everything between 0.5 to 2cm is fine. *Fry the veggies in (olive) oil for about 5 minutes under medium heat, stirring every now and then. *Then add water, vinegar, and your spice mixture. Reduce heat. Stir until all the veggies have a red-brown coat. Taste if the seasoning is good and add a bit more if needed. *Let it simmer for about 2 more minutes until the liquid has mostly evaporated. 4. Serving Either stuff the veggies in a pita or Turkish bread, or serve with bread on a plate. Either case, dump a spoonful of sauce on top. Enjoy. e: crap, wrong thread, put I'll leave it here regardless, deal

Some Porsches do this now, it makes the car more stable at speed. It also inverts at lower speeds and higher steering angles for tighter cornering.

Nissan did it back in the 80's (HICAS), but the truck above would probably have manual control over the rear, as is common in rock buggies and poo poo

cephalopods posted:didn't Silverados have something similar in the 00s? Yeah, at above like 45mph or something the rear wheels turn the same direction as the fronts to improve stability. Effectively it's like making the wheelbase longer. At lower speeds they turn the opposite way to shorten turning radius. My dad had one, it was impressive, you could basically make a u-turn on a residential street, and it was weird to parallel park. I think the first honda prelude 4ws was a mechanical linkage? And it did something like turn the wheels the same direction at small steering angles and then the opposite once you reached a certain point.

Ah hell there have been plenty and it is making quite a comeback. ZF basically has an off the shelf unit that OEMs can use. As for GM and their trucks, IIRC that was called quadrasteer. And in typical GM fashion you were hosed if trying to fix parts based on parts availability.
