I will do for this movie what I did for The Last Jedi and Rogue One - halfheartedly watch them on Netflix during a slow workday Rogue One at least had a visually striking opening scene that was very Kurosawa before it fell into a ditch, also Mads Mikkelsen was miscast which was worst of all tino posted:If Rey is Luke's clone, can I call her Punished Luke? He wasn’t miscast. It was a lovely character. It’s pretty clear he was always intended to be an evil bastard. During the reshoots and changes they made him to a guy forced to do a bad thing who booby trapped the Death Star. Also my phone auto capitalized Death Star which is hilarious.

I was so looking forward to TLJ. Got my ticket to an opening night IMAX showing months ahead of time. Thought it was poo poo. Then later I thought maybe I'd been too hard on it, so I saw it in theaters again. Nope, it's just garbage lol Episode 9 already looks like it ignores some of what I had issues with in TLJ, so maybe I'll love it just like I did TFA.

I've never read any of the books, but I gathered as much about what happened from videogames and from being a nerd, in that after the battle of Endor ends in essentially the decapitation of the Imperial Hierarchy, that the various remaining governors and officers, with huge fleets and armies at their disposal, go into business for themsevles as regional warlords that the New Republic has to come to terms with in whatever ways it can (be it militarily or diplomatically). Now I'm going to assume that most of the actual stories were garbage, but at its core that idea is pretty good and even realistic for a huge military dictatorship like the Empire. It even kind of builds on what Tarkin said in the original Star Wars, that after the dissolution of the Senate that regional governors would be given direct military control over their sectors. All I know of the old EU comes from a Jedi Outcast game. There's the new republic and imperial remnant. That makes sense and is easy to understand. Prolly shouldn't go more complicated than that in your space movies for babies.
