Goodness no, now that wouldn't do at all!

Quelle Chris released a new album and it's keeping up his streak of great projects. Some of the humor is toned down (not all, but a bit) and I think it's maybe a bit more accessible than some of his other stuff.

And I think some folks mentioned it but billy woods's latest album is also great. Dude's consistently one of the best rappers out, and this album's no different.

New Anderson Paak is real good, leaning more in to the old school soul sound, track with Smokey is the stand out so far

Since we're talking about stuff that's been out for a while, how'd people like the newest Billy Woods? I haven't taken a listen yet.

Yeah, loving it too, as a huge fan. Been listening to it pretty much daily since it came out, mixing it up with his other stuff on some days.
Also it's somehow even more depressive than his previous stuff!

I feel like I'm seeing more articles/general talk about it than for his previous projects, maybe he'll finally get some more recognition...

vinyl has some good art on the B-side too.

gently caress me I didn't even realize he has a new album out!

Oxnard was incredibly disappointing, imo, hopefully this is better. I see the first reach has Andre 3000 so I'm hopeful already.

I think Oxnard being disappointing had a lot to do with the hype and expectations being ridiculously high. It's not as good as Malibu, but I still bump a few of the tracks pretty regularly. Checking out the new album now, will post impressions after first lesson.

I actually had no idea Paak had put out a new album when I stumbled upon Oxnard, so that's not the case for me, haha. I've listened to it three separate times and I can't remember a single track from it

Def interested to hear your thoughts on the new album though, I downloaded it with the intention of listening to it today during work, and then I was running around so much I didn't have the chance.

That's crazy haha, I remember a bunch of people discussing it here because Dre was Executive Producing the album and had posted some pics in studio with Paak. May not have been the case for you, but it def was for me. I also got super busy today after checking out the first track so I'll have to listen to it later.

Ventura is way better than Oxnard. I've already heard it more front to back compared to Oxnard. Also helps that it's shorter and the first track has the Andre 3000 feature right off the bat.

Very 2019 indeed - Megaran and Jaden Smith each recently dropped videos shot in Akihabara too. Still, I'm hoping Midnight Society has a come up this year.

God of Boomin'

Really clear after 2 Paak albums that Oxnard is the Dre driven, "Go get on the radio and make car commercial music money" disc and Ventura is the disc for the fans. Ventura doesn't match the highs of Oxnard but it also doesn't have the lows either, making it more consistent and the better of the two.

I could do without that whole verse where he can't stop saying gushy though.
