yah it's emblematic of the inhumanity of capitalism, but laws against feeding the homeless are more about forcibly moving the homeless out of sight out of mind and preventing them from congregating in public spaces like parks. hunger is a huge problem in the modern US, but I don't think outright starvation is a mass problem
