I think if Sipilä joined with SDP the last election instead of the KOK then he might have gotten his reform through because it would not have been hamstrung by various KOK demands for privatization and freedom of choice bullshit. He could then have done the exact same SDP-Kesk-Vihr-LA-RKP government and gotten 119 seats, not as many as with the government he got, but one I think that would have been able to deliver a SOTE reform and gotten him most of what he wanted. Instead of 4 years of the dumbest government in finnish history and going into the history books as a loser.

Keppanareppanat ei nyt vaan ole hyvissä asemissa sopia mistään ennen kesän puoluekokousta. Ainoa realistinen optio imo on että Sips eroaa ja tilalle kutsutaan Kepun kunniapuheenjohtaja PV. Yksi vaihtoehto olisi myös se mitä ei saa ääneen mainita, joka on nyt Ruotsissa käytössä. Silloin kepu voisi tehdä demareiden kanssa diilin mutta jättää uuden puoluejohdon kädet vapaiksi sillä keps gotta pets.

If kepu sits in opposition now, they risk the same as kok, not being able to affect a possibly successful SOTE reform. This reform is part of kepus longterm survival strategy so I think they will not risk the chance at another go. Most of what they wanted should be doable after all with the kokheads out of the way.

SDP should give Kepu cows and maakuntas, maybe let them create a fourth Pohjanmaa? State subsidies for a beet-ethanol plant. Etc.. In exchange Kepu lets them pass a new sote and do some general socialism.

Kepu's bucketlist of demands for joining a government is pretty much the list of things that SDP can either give outright, or reach a viable compromise on. I think that some of the party leadership understand that this is a situation where they'd get reamed even in opposition and the SDP is really the only party they can enter govt with.

Final count is in. We avoided persut as the PM party by less than 8000 votes. Kind of terrifying honestly. I'd probably put money on them being the biggest party next time around, but thinking about that is too depressing right now. e: Also I just realized that's not how voting works, but it was really close either way.
