heck yeah! i wanted to post my quick take on the elecom deft pro here after i got some time to settle in. if you liked the discontinued logitech trackman wireless this is basically the best replacement easily. the ball felt a bit rough at first and i took a pass and used the trackman ball, but it was starting to break in after a week or so

it's also fairly customizable for buttons, speed, and dpi while being either wired, proprietary wireless, or Bluetooth. im honestly surprised this thing exists because it's like a wishlist of trackball user features

I’m kinda mad they changed the sensitivity switch into the wireless/Bluetooth switch and then moved the sensitivity switch to the bottom because of course you’d need to change the wireless mode during use instead of the sensitivity yes that made sense to someone somehow

Is there a good PC trackpad?

I think windows makes it impossible to have a good trackpad

scrolling is based on "lines" in the majority of apps, and the idea of horizontal scrolling is just not there at all

there's some speed threshold for what counts as a line so if you scroll slower than that it just never scrolls

dell ships trackpads that are literally half the size of good ones

and while we're on it

windows has dog poo poo support for keyboards too, you can't switch ctrl and caps-lock on a per-keyboard basis (just os-wide) and you either have to trust some registry hack or a third-party program

yeah thats a real head scratcher, its totally useless pretty much 100% of the time. even wired i still feel like i messed something up if i flip it between modes. if they could add some support to reassign it when not wireless itd be a bit better

Yeah obviously caps lock is most properly bound to backspace, while enter becomes control and right-shift becomes enter.

yeah i have one

they work fine, but i find that i prefer to just use the mouse and keyboard chords for 3D navigation because then you have one hand on the keyboard instead of on another device. i like the keyboard.

the power user strategy seems to be to use it as a coarse movement control and the mouse for fine selection, minimizing wrist movement, and to replace the common keyboard commands with mouse gestures.

On the HHKB there's dip switches for swapping \ and backspace and it's actually crazy how big of a difference even that small change makes. It's crazy to be reaching with your pinky like that to backspace when it's probably the most used key during normal typing.
