Happening right outside my house. Every spring, the state puts this string of safety floaters near the edge of the dam, to prevent people in canoes and kayaks from going over the edge. This dude straddled this extremely painful looking fence, and is now shimmying along the edge of the wall, above fast moving water, holding a string with which to pull the floors across. This dude is going for a swim.

Fake edit: the floaters just went over the waterfall, and almost pulled that dude right into the water. Beautiful.

Real edit: 10 minutes later, and the floaters are still hanging over the edge of the falls. The weight of them, plus the strength of the water flow, means that they can't pull them back up. They could be like this all season.

They just tried to attach it to one of their pickups and broke the line. The line of bouys are trapped at the bottom of the falls, and all of them are standing around like doofuses trying to figure out what to do

Jesus Christ :stare: this dude just tried to ford extremely fast moving water in order to try to get to the string of buoys, I don't know what he thought was going to happen when he got there.

Fake edit: awwwwww, he gave up after only a few seconds

Why not let go of one end, then reel them all in?

You can kind of see why, here:

One end of the string is looped around a rock or log at the bottom of the falls.

These dingleberries are randomly tugging on one end of the rope, stopping, then trying again.

Aaaaaaand dude went back into the water, wandered around, and just got back out.

I would offer these idiots use of my kayak, or canoe, but they would just gently caress it up. one end of a rope to the front, one end of the rope to the back, and they could haul the dude across so he could unsnag the line.

... But then that would deny us of entertainment and or a tragic death, so who am I to do that?

Edit: The water's probably about 50F? I got half a mind to go down there and measure it, after lunch.
