Really enjoying queens blaze attitude to the battle royale. Snapping at Luffy for burning through mooks to fast, stopping so everyone can go to sleep. I suppose they’re still keen to recruit him so aren’t too bothered with him training himself on the troops.

The whole original point of Luffy and Law's alliance was to unseat Kaido, remember, and they've been working their way up Kaido's logistical supply chain ever since; destroying the SMILE processing facility on Punk Hazard and then the artificial Devil Fruit plantations on Dressrosa, wrecking a lot of other weapons facilities he probably relied on too. (but the SMILE is the most important part, since that's where he gets his Gifters from) It's not certain whether Law planned this far given he was entirely willing to die if it meant beating Doflamingo once and for all, but he seems to have an overarching plan of weakening Kaido's army before going in for the kill shot, and Luffy is doing his part personally by trying to train himself specifically to be able to fight an Emperor.

I think Law was hoping that Doffy and Kaido would end up clashing (due to Kaido's temper) and that, while Doffy could never hope to win against Kaido, his forces could at least do some damage to Kaido's forces while getting his roundabout revenge on Doffy at the same time. Of course, Doffy pulling the strings (heh) with CP0 and the World Government meant that his plan had to change and he and Luffy had to go beat down Doffy directly. Of course, while he did plan on striking Kaido, the prime objective was always avenging Corazon with Doffy's death, which he was willing to prioritize over all else.

It can be easy to forget given how dense the story has gotten lately, but we had a full reaction of Kaido being legitimately upset about it. It's a pretty significant theme in the background that Kaido has basically been putting every single part of his empire at work creating as many weapons as possible, implicitly everything from standard arms and armaments to artificial Devil Fruits and some interest in horrific superweapons. I'm not sure if it was made explicit or just really hinted that he wants to start a World War, probably in the hopes that someone will come along with something capable of killing him.
