EDIT And to add my unsolicited opinions to that "best shot"; From the moment Sonic touches down and Genos is in his face to the punch being thrown we're fine. It's solid animation though I'd have drawn out the slo-mo a bit more. I understand getting shot timings is tough for TV animation but I think it would really help sell the moment. It's too quick as is. Also too quick is Genos getting into the shot. I think it would have been better if as the shot of Sonic landing pulls out it's simply revealed Genos is there already, punch starting to be thrown. Then Sonic just freezes and Genos' punch has zero follow through with no real sense of weight with the explosion seemingly happening in normal time. I get Genos being stock still is meant to make the attack feel solid so that's a fair choice but it just feels awkward. I'd have just had Sonic follow through on that lean back and make it a backflip and have Genos recover his stance. As it is the shot is cool but barely animated. that sequence is pretty solid, but in a "pick 4 seconds out of the episode at random" kind of way, not a "this is the best animation the entire episode" sort of way. it does a good job of conveying motion without having the characters actually move at all, but uh, the characters still aren't moving

Murata makes a lot of the side characters, such as Spring Mustachio. ONE just tells him to make some lower class heroes and Murata decided to make Captain Mizuki. ONE does ultimately approve of whatever Murata adds but he gives Murata a lot of freedom in general.
