Back in cool days that’s exactly why bards were the mechanics class. It’s also why they added the cast times on to the class for HW before they realized they could solve the problem through encounter design instead of class design.

The shots are the easy parts, it's the OGCDs that throw me. Half the time I get out of the Wildfire and realize I somehow didn't hit Rapid Fire, or Reassemble, or Ricochet, or I hit them in wildly the wrong order. I managed to hammer the 3 Ammo (high ping) opener into my head, but the Midfire is still a work in progress.

Uh... Kupo?

Thankfully rapid fire lasts like 20 seconds but turns off after its used 3 times and reload lasts forever so there's not actually much time pressure to hit those. For me, the real problem is the stress from making sure my heat buffs on at the same time as wildfire and also to make sure i overdrive prior.

It's a very stressful class, weirdly.

Just came back to the game after a couple years hiatus and I’m thinking of upgrading my computer a bit to get better FPS/performance/graphics etc. From what I’ve gleaned I probably just need a new GPU. Budget is $200 max though if I could keep it closer to 150 that’d rule.

Current setup is:

MB: ASUS P8P67
CPU: i7 2600k
GPU: quadro 600
Ram: 4x2

Any suggestions or recommendations?

Yeah your CPU seems alright if a little long in the tooth but the GPU is old as hell and could definitely use an upgrade. Assuming you're talking USD you could easily get an RX 570 or GTX 1050 Ti in the 150-200 range or if you find a good deal that could be bumped up to an RX 580 or GTX 1060.

So did EU already get this cross world FATE stress test thing? What's the reward if so(other than Ixion poo poo) because I have zero interest in testing a thing that shits itself when more than 40 people are on the screen at the same time anyway unless you give me some cool swag.

Cabbit

Is that everything you have?

The cool swag is increasing the odds that you'll be able to play the new expansion without stuff constantly crapping the bed for the first week.

I expect a Raubahn 2.0 encounter right out the gate so my expectations are already pretty low. If I can use some dumb backwoods server resources to get past it that's worth it I guess.

Other than that, cross world stuff has zero appeal to me unless I can go and snipe their hunt spawns.

Yoshida and his team have consistently shown that they learn from mistakes so I highly doubt we'll see another Raubahn EX situation

Low prices bad! Stuff sells so rarely on our server it's almost not worth being a crafter if you aren't bleeding edge every patch.

I'm making most of my cash right now selling Materia VI's by the truckload. It's very competitive and you have to babysit it for a while but it's super profitable.

last time i checked, materia 6s were in the toilet due to eureka + everyone handing them out like party favors

like to the point where i'm considering redoing my crafter gear and overmelding with 6s and 5s for craftsmanship/control while still hitting the CP cap and it would only cost like 2 million

yeah but I would be incredibly surprised if you're pulling in over 7 figures a week money doing this, which is what bleeding edge patch day money making looks like.

Not everyone needs Bleeding Edge patch day money to live or has the time/patience to level crafters. This is just pocket change money for very little effort outside of following a hunt train around getting clusters. I usually pull 500k to 750k for no additional work other than checking/updating/relisting every hour that I'm online once a venture completes. Some materia VI still sell 6k to 9k each and if they dip super low I'll snatch them up and relist or hold stock for a day or two.

I'm assuming my market right now is fresh 70s or people switching classes that don't hit Eureka at all. When this dries up, there's always gathering but honestly I don't have anything to spend Gil on and 90% of the stuff I see and go "that would be neat to have" is priced way too high on my server and I figure out how to get it for myself anyway.

I don't want to level crafters right now. The 1-50 slog really burned me out after getting a few of them to 50 and for some reason farming old transmog stuff/relics interest me more.

But you are right tho. Nothing will compete with the initial rush on a patch day and if you're primed to compete in that market you will make money hand over fist. For me, this late in the game I've found something I can do while bullshitting out in the world playing pretty princess dressup that doesn't involved the crafting hamster wheel.

I have definitely made ~10 mil gil on the week a new raid tier comes out from trading cracked clusters for top tier DoW/DoM materia and selling them. Similarly I assume selling grade VI crafting materia to tryhards the week SB2 comes out will be pretty lucrative. But yeah, deep into a patch cycle materia still have the advantage of selling quickly but you're not gonna make a ton of gil.

I've been a level 70 crafter for like 4 weeks and have made like 25m gil casually selling weapons over that time. It's not holy poo poo money but it's still pretty good.

re: money
i checked how much i've made this patch just kinda being lazy and sticking to "don't sell stuff for less than 1000 gil/swing if it's a raw mat, cornering an intermediate craft (think ingots, reagants, etc), and a handful of HQ i380 stuff... ~45 mil

i've probably given goons 10x as many free i380 left sides than i've sold since january
