The one main difference is that we know who the narrators are in the Meat section and what their motives are, while the identity and motives of the narrator in Candy chapters remains a mystery (well, a mystery beyond the obvious goal of "gaslight John enough that he can't trust his own instincts and use his canon changing powers to gently caress up my plans")
