In the same vein, here's a newer one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRjinx1UYHE Tannerite is fun but don't put it inside or on things that will make shrapnel.

Nah the guy who lost his leg shot a lawnmower and was only like 10 feet away from it.

Tashilicious posted:So if you don't take pain meds for chronic pain, you get more pain. Pain is weird because brains are weird. A lot of pain theory nowadays boils down to "pain is your brain saying something isn't right and thinks you need to do something to fix it, and will frequently settle down once it thinks there's nothing more anyone can actually do" and uses more than just what your nerves report to come to that conclusion. Phantom limb pain, chronic inexplicable pain, referred pain, pain from something that looks worse than it is (like the apocryphal nail through the shoe that missed the foot), lack of pain from something you didn't realized happened (like the equally apocryphal nail in the head that nobody knew was there), post-traumatic pain that only kicks in once your brain recognizes that you're not still in active danger and can deal with the smaller issues, and that's just "how you physically feel about it", without touching placebos/nocebos affecting your physical recovery. It's a fascinating topic. e: oops I forgot to post this and just had it up in preview on my phone, oh well super late

Not only is that guy dumb enough to pack a lawnmower full of explosives and try to set it off, he's also such a lousy shot that he had to walk closer before he could manage to hit it.

The idea is that I have a bunch of gear on a workbench and not easy access to the actual wall outlet that has individual switches. I wanted a standalone extra measure after I came home to a melted iron after I got drunk working on something and went to the pub.

It's not like I think there should be a death penalty for stupidity, but what if we just took the warning labels off everything and let the problem solve itself?

People who are going to darwin in a vaccuum (ie, the ones who aren’t being told to do the unsafe thing by their superiors and get to choose between being fired and a gruesome potential for missing limbs at minimum wage) aren’t going to be deterred by a warning label in the first place, as youtube personalities posted ITT have shown multifold

Edit: Technically when clearing a rifle, you are supposed to unload the magazine, cycle the bolt, leaving it open, verifying the feed path is clear w/ your eyeballs, then verifying the barrel is free from obstruction and the rifling isn't all sorts of hosed. But Imgur said this dude had a misfire, so he's waaaaaay off. Ultimate Shrek Fan fucked around with this message at 13:12 on Apr 25, 2019 |

In the EU you're pretty certain Pyrex is actually borosilicate glass instead of the cheaper tempered soda lime glass. It's just as good!! (small print: don't put in a microwave) I guess OSHA doesn't apply to home kitchens? https://gizmodo.com/the-pyrex-glass-controversy-that-just-wont-die-1833040962
